As my BU alum buddy visiting from Atlanta said, "All's well that ends well". Very ugly first two periods (other than Svoboda's two outstanding individual efforts). My hope is that this isn't a locker room issue and is just a team that lost a lot of veteran leadership still finding it's way. The defense is very young. The only veteran on d is still adjusting to a new team and style. The "adjustment" is a real thing - look at how much better Copponi looks over the last few games than he did before. We also miss the board domination that we had with guys like Stevens, Peterson, and Tuch last year. Lachance is the only guy on the team that can really maintain possession on the boards effectively.
- Sometimes the simple play is the right play, and the team sometimes overcomplicates things. On the third MC goal, Greene retrieved the puck and had a clear lane if he curled up the bards. But instead he took it behind the net where he had to deal with forecheckers.
- One clear change as the play on the ice improved - Hutson carried the puck up all the way into the zone. Given some of his passes in the first two periods, that was definitely the right call...
- I love that Pandolfo put the three "two goal" guys out for that final power play. My guess is the instructions were "if we win the faceoff, try for a hat trick for one of you, if they clear the zone, then run out the clock".
