Re: BU at Lowell, Lowell at BU 10/30-31

Conspiracy!!! The Refs Handed That Game To Lowell!!! That Blatant Trip By Gryba With 5 Minutes Left Shouldn't Have Been Called Because The Whistles Should Be Put Away Then!!!!

Rise, First Estate Noble Clergy Of Hockey East, And Revolt Against The Cheating Proletariat!!!

congratulations, you played better tonight and earned the win. this is how you lose without blaming someone else. BU's inability to clear the zone and offensive disorganization were some things that lead to this loss. I actually thought we played quite well in certain spots. Guys were hustling to keep the puck in the zone (on both sides actually) and did a good job containing Lowell's spectacular play against the boards for the most part. But some lazy defensive play that Lowell jumped on and a couple of weird bounces lead to a goal or two. And so it goes.

This... and some seriously dumb puck handling... there were a couple of moments when a good pass was made and a shot would have been a fairly easy goal but whoever the puck was being passed to mishandled it... What happened to keeping our sticks on the ice?!

yes i did personally. boom.

Haha, nice.

Short note... My apologies to the UML fans who were in 106 that cussed at a good amount by a few people in 108... in their defense, they were drunk (let's admit it, it's Halloween) and that usually doesn't happen. Glad to see UML showing more road presence (I'm not sure if the numbers were actually bigger than last year but you all were certainly more coordinated and louder).

I had no real problems with the refs tonight... I think both BU and UML fans were glad to see a game without Benny!

Missed the whole thing. Mother in law was sick:( Glad there was a split. Now we can all mouth stupidities until the tiebreaker;)

i had it because i had mlb.tv the past two seasons, i just didn't have the most recent version, which is what this was demanding. ran a quick software update and off i went (i also got the latest itunes. weeee).

thanks for the help.
Just bought the broadcast. I suspect that CBS sports is going on one of TIIL's list as it appears to suggest that UML doesn't exist. Course, not sure what that says about BU, losing to a team that doesn't exist.

no, they just don't have a deal with lowell. lowell's online video provider is the reprehensible B2 networks

Speaking of adding someone to the Levels..

Without Aughe throwing Lowell out of the circle 30 times for whatever inexplicable reason, the River Hawks won the faceoff battle 40-19 tonight.

Amazing how that works. Nice job 'hawks.

BU fans cursing!?!?!?!? At opposing fans!?!?!?!?!  If it didn't happen to me at just about every single game I've been to Agganis at, I would never believe it.

Re: BU at Lowell, Lowell at BU 10/30-31

man, am I sick of the whole cursing thing (on all sides). The farther I get away from being a student, the more I think students really should be able to use virtually any profanity they please because I'd rather hear vulgar noise than the noise I (and fellow 'older' alums/fans) are not making.

They're 18-22 years old, they should be swearing and doing relatively inappropriate things at their teams' games as long as they're doing it with volume and passion.

As a person who has been cursing consistently when speaking with my friends since 5th grade (but has only once dropped an f bomb in front of my mother, and never inappropriately used such language in a professional situation), I feel I can strongly advocate that I wasn't warped or ruined by the language. Let the kids curse...it's who they are, it's what they do and frankly, parents need to stop being such pansies about it.

(and yes, I'm drunk)

I think there are only rare times when profanity is useful and maybe even appropriate. For instance, in the Radiohead song Creep- the line "you're so ****ing special" is sneered by Thom Yorke to great effect. In that case, the expletive works. Overused, it loses its impact and just sounds dumb, like you're too numb to think of anything else to say.

There was an older BU fan at Lowell Friday night getting into it with their entire student section. There were swears hurled back and forth, "FU BU" chants, etc., but the best moment was when Lowell chanted "Sit down, Grandpa!" Not highly original, but it got a laugh out of everyone on both sides and wasn't something that a parent had to explain to their kid.

The swearing just sounds lame and doesn't represent BU the way I would like the school to be represented. I'd rather see and hear some intelligence behind the vocalizations. I understand we are talking about 18-22 year old kids, but they were smart enough to get into BU, so they should be smart enough to cheer at a hockey game without resorting a few overused, ineffectual obscenities.

My Mum, who has a vocabulary like Webster's Dictionary always pounded into our heads that people who swear don't have a large enough vocabulary to express what they really mean. (Unfortunately most of my neighborhood in HS never went past 12th grade so they didn't get what I was saying but the lesson still stuck with me.) I used to enjoy going to places where they had the really long involved cheers like the one about the black hole, vacuum.....sieve. Shows the cohesiveness of the fan base way more than X sucks or BS.

Re: BU at Lowell, Lowell at BU 10/30-31

Great win for Lowell Saturday night. It's a good, no ... great is a better word, feeling walking out of BU with a win. The team fought hard, and I know it wasn't that way, but it seemed they won every 50/50 battle. The faceoff stat was amazing. They put it up during the game at one point, and I knew we'd been winning a lot but was still surprised. Of course at the end of the game, it seemed like we were losing all of them. :o

Anyway … I'll take the two points and a split against BU. As John said elsewhere, the split also still gives Lowell a chance to win the tie-breaker when they host BU in February.
