BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

BU is playing like they want NO part of BC tomorrow. And I can’t say I blame them. BC is an absolute wagon. Their NC to lose.

I have a slightly different take. Let them beat us. We may get another shot at them. Tough to keep beating a team multiple times

I thought I heard that UMass was 80% in tournament even with a loss so this actually could knock their seed down to a #4. The worse news is it looks like everyone else is playing for runner up for the NC. With Perreault back this BC team looks unstoppable no one has close to their firepower offensively. Upsets happen in hockey but they are a very clear favorite, epic season. Thinking of BU 1995 31-6-3 team. If the FR three all come back its is going to be just as dominant next year.

Smith is returning

Just here to say it's obviously bullshit that you need to find the permutations of UMass missing tournament in order to stay local. It's down to them and CC I guess for final spot.

BU got it done last night, but it wasn't pretty. They are going to have to say fuck it and let it fly tonight to have any chance. (I predict 5-2 BC. Hopefully a 1 goal game going into the 3rd, but BC's skill will take over.)

Did you all catch Jay's post-game presser? A reporter asked Jay a question by saying that "from the outside, Caron is the weak link." Jay was having none of it. Kid reporter thinking he's a tough guy asking the "tough question." * eye roll *

And regarding all the UMass stuff. The universe will decide. I can't be bothered obsessing about the math and the way things need to break. But if the universe is listening, UMass should be golfing on Sunday after their coach's comments after the BC debacle. What a tool.

BU Hockey: Realist

I have thought of Caron as weak link only in the sense of if you had to pick one. He's a good goalie and came up big last night. I just think he can get out of position sometimes and also leave some rebounds but he still makes difficult saves.

Completely agree on Carvel. Tool-bag.

Tough to have to root for a Hockey East team to not qualify (also because my son is there), but I would love to be able to watch this team next weekend (and I ain't flying to St. Louis).

Caron is playing incredible hockey now. I think was 8 straight games with 2 or less goals given up now?

BC is a machine at this point. They are the clear best team in the country and I am just hoping we can keep it close. Needless to say, staying out of the box will be critical. Can't let the rivalry aspect cause the boys to lose their heads.

I was at the game but missed the comments, must have been only on NESN? What was it he said? I was pretty disappointed he didn’t pull Hrabel. It was obvious Hrabel was out of it. Not seeing the puck, flopping a bit, lack of control with the blocker, etc… Not sure what the rational is leaving your goalie out to dry like that when UMass could have a big game in NCAA on Thursday.

Very nice game by BU’s Caron. I thought Lachance had a great game setting up camp in front of Boija. Hoping for an epic battle tonight!

For the most part BU was outplayed last night which was telling as they face off tonight with BC and then the national tournament. Caron and the PP won the game for them. I agree with others that the gap between BU and BC is noticeable the media plays it up that they are equals. I think
BU is closer to 3-10 than 1. It’s pretty ridiculous that a #16 team that got embarrassed last night and the team BU beat Maine are going to get a better location placement than the clear #2 in pairwise when there are 2 sites an hour away. That said I think they might have an easier road out West or no worse. Trying to think when they have come out of the West to Final 4 I couldn’t think of one

You guys would be #1 in PWR in basically any other year and already have a win over BC...the sandbagging! I think this game is destined for OT.

Wow, Mookie must have cast a spell over the lot of you. This is a TON of sandbagging. If I recall correctly BU and BC have played three close games, you guys won the last one, that was played in this venue, and you guys have not lost since the Beanpot.

I agree BC is the favorite, but it's a small margin. I'd wager if these teams played 10 times, BC would win maybe 6?
