BU 23-24 Post-Season and Off-Season: Jacks and Coles

The Aggais website states that BU will play 19 home games this upcoming season. I'm sure 2 will be exhibitions; one vs the US under-18 team and one vs a Canadian university. That leaves 17 regular season games: 12 Hockey East games and 5 OOC games, including 2 vs Michigan. With 7 OOC games already known (Belfast x1, Beanpot x2, UND x2, Michigan x2) the remaing 3 must all be home games. Likely one before Thanksgiving and a 2-game series. So no trip to Lynah this season.

Sean

Looks like the website has been edited and now says 18 home games…. Maybe opens up one more away game?

I've heard there is currently not an expectation that they will return the Cornell game at Lynah at all. Can't confirm that, but I believe that's where they're at now.

Also, both Belfast games will count as OOC games per McMahon. So OOC will be @Belfast x2, Beanpot x2, @UND x2, Michigan x2, Union, HC. To Sean's post above, that means there are only 2 remaining home games, which are covered by HC and Union. That's the schedule.

BU home schedule is apparently going to be released today. Doubleheader w/ womens sneak peak below:

10/12 - Union
10/18 - UConn
10/19 - Harvard - must be exhibtion
11/1 - Michigan
11/8 - UML

Harvard as an exhibition is uncommon. In recent memory I can’t recall having and exhibition against an otherwise regular opponent…

The schedule is out and Harvard is indeed an exhibition. Speculation here: BU expected the Friendship Four game vs Merrimack to be a Hockey East game, so Harvard would have been a regular OOC game. However, Merrimack expected it to an OOC game. In the end Merrimack got what they wanted, leaving BU one over the limit. The Ivies leave games available and Harvard agreed to play it as a pre-season exhibition game (they did the same with UML last season).

Full schedule is out. Not really any surprises at this point. Not sure if we knew of the game at Yale?

Who do we play in Ireland? Merrimack and ???

BU played at Yale last year on 29 December, so that game looks odd to me. Also, either the Belfast game vs MC is indeed a league game, or BU will have one too many games on the schedule (the third MC game is missing).

So far the Frienship Four has always had the winners play each other and the lovers play each other. The other 2 teams are Harvard and Notre Dame. Matchups will be announced next week.

So technically we don't know who we are playing in Belfast - but we know by default since we have to play Merrimack as a league game or we have too many games?

Then we get either Harvard or ND in either the championship final or the consolation final... would be odd to play Harvard 3 times. I wonder if that has happened since the start of Hockey East?

Mark Divver posted that Swedish LD Sascha Boumedienne will accelerate and head to BU this season. He turned 17 in January. Would be the 8th D on the roster. Also, Jack Pridham will stay in the BCHL another season.
More on the blog.

I saw on Reddit that David Warsofsky's brother Ryan is in the mix for the San Jose Sharks head coaching job. Which I think would be awesome for him. He's really done well rising up in the ranks. Anyway, I asked if former Terrier John McCarthy is still the head coach of the Sharks' AHL team (the Barracudas) and if so why wouldn't he be considered. Apparently he's doing a poor job there and fans in San Jose don't want him. Which is a bummer. Probably the only former Terrier to not do well. That makes me sad. McCarthy was such a good player and great captain here.

Kevin Paul Dupont Led off his notes column today with an interview with Jay talking about you-know-who. To Jay's credit, he went the honesty path saying the kid is ready for the next level and that the decision is up to him and his family. Oh, and of course he wants him back. (duh)

Last night was a good night for BU Hockey. Macklin was in the house at Game 2 and was shown multiple times (In a suit and tie!) and discussed by Shawn and Ray quite a bit. They also mentioned Jay and BU's Frozen Four run etc. And then ERod wins the game in the 3rd with two goals. #ProudToBU
