BU 23-24 Post-Season and Off-Season: Jacks and Coles

I certainly wouldn't advise a player to use the phrasing Gauthier did but he was essentially just saying he thought his team would win. I would expect every player on each team to feel the same way. Not like you could add more motivation...it's the national title game.

There's an enormous difference between a player saying they feel confident and they think they can win and what Cutter said. His line unnecessarily gave DU bulletin board material. This isn't pro wrestling, give the reporter the usual "they're a great team but we're confident in our group" answer and keep the tears line behind the closed doors of your own locker room.

Right - Denver was likely winning anyway but why take a chance on giving a team any extra motivation? And - now instead of just losing, Cutter had the experience of losing and sounding like a douche.

Carle had a better game plan and succeeded.

This. I read an interview after the BU game where Carle said they spent three days of practice on neutralizing Macklin. The man knows how to prepare and motivate and when is some NHL team going to back up the Brinks truck to get him to sign????

With regards to Cutter, what surprised me most was that I don't think I've ever heard boo from him over the past season. While I certainly don't search out interviews of BC players, you usually see snippets here and there. He seems like a pretty quiet kid. So when I read that he said that, I didn't believe it, until I saw the video. It just seemed so out of character for him.

Many of the BU players are going to be in Montreal tonight for Lane's debut.

The DU players didn't even know this happened. Fact. There was no bulletin board material element. And it was the freakin' national title game anyway. There is no bulletin board material when you are in the final game of the season.

I agree that it wasn't bulletin board material. They didn't need it.It was, however, an interview that was captured on video. Win or lose, it wasn't a good look for him.

Typical BC dickhead. Can't wait to see him get the "Philly Flu" when the Ducks come to WF Center.

Before the 1978 final, Jack O'Callahan said, 'All we have to do is beat BC for the national championship? Heck, we can do that every day of the week.'

That was bulletin board material.

But O'Callahan and teammates backed it up. Had BU not won, O'Callahan would have have looked like Cutter does now.

So looking ahead to next years schedule, are we aware of any other OOC games beyond Michigan coming to Agganis for 2 and the Beanpot? Do we make a trip to Lynah in return for Cornell's visit to Agganis in 22/23?

Nice! Any idea if that is for one or two?

So we would have:

Michigan x 2
Beanpot x 2
@ North Dakota x(?)

2 at UND.
2 in Belfast.
Probably an ECAC game and an AHA game to round it out.

Re: Wilmer. I don't know the story here, but the indications are this is not unexpected and something that had been percolating for some time. I don't think it's solely the result of him being benched last Thursday or during the regionals.

Haters are going to hate, I think Fleabag is going to be miserable for the next few years because Greg Brown is not going anywhere any time soon.

I'd like to know more about the Wilmer situation. He never struck me as the type to be a bad teammate or not put his work in at practice or off-ice. Yeah, sometimes he'd pass when he should've shot, and he had one bad game, but I don't think anyone will truthfully say they saw this coming before the regional.

How does entering the portal equal bad teammate? I'm not sure I understand your point.
