BU 23-24 Post-Season and Off-Season: Jacks and Coles

I woke and still can’t believe BC lost. It would be like if BU had lost in 2009. * Shudder *

He (and everyone) was tired by the OT. That 5 hole goal was just a lapse as the game wore on. But yeah he stood on his head until that point. Outstanding game until he was worn.

BU will need a goalie like Davis to win it all. It always starts with the goalie.

Caron is good enough to win it all with.
We will see about LaCroix. And then the Russian kid after him.

The Denver goalie had one of the very best tournaments in NCAA history.

I really don't understand the negativity with Caron. He is not the usually stand-up goalie that BU usually has in goal. But goal is not a problem as long as he is in the squad.

Caron is a rising senior now. He doesn't have to leave for next year. He may have a extra Covid year too.

The puck went through the defenseman's legs first, he was screened and a split second too late. Nothing to do with being worn.
No excuse necessary.

I hope Caron gets the Most Improved Player awards because I feel he really did improve from the start of the season to the end.

Luke Tuch signed with Montreal today.

CHN is great, but it's recruit pages are not. This one is full of errors. It still shows LaStarza coming in 2024. He's headed to Vermont. Lots of incorrect recruit class years, too. Heisenberg, CHI and Elite Prospects all have Eiserman in BU's 2024 class.

Elite Prospects is showing 2025-2026 at the moment.

I certainly wouldn't advise a player to use the phrasing Gauthier did but he was essentially just saying he thought his team would win. I would expect every player on each team to feel the same way. Not like you could add more motivation...it's the national title game.

BC had 2 power plays to amplify their shot total. They did make a charge with those, but Denver did a great job blocking shots and defending their zone the rest of the time. Very crisp short passes to start going the other way. I was impressed. BC was a little sloppy in the offensive zone and that ended plays as well.

I still think we should have been in that game with BC. I thought we outplayed Denver for the most part. I can’t say the same for BC. They got outplayed.

Through 2 periods, yes. PPs weren't the reason BC outshot Denver 23-5 in 3rd period. No coach wants to give up 23 shots in a period. In the end BC got goalied. Puck simply would not go in last night. Posts, other glorious chances even in first two periods. Smith had a breakaway in first, Gasseau hit post on an empty net etc. It happens. Denver was the only type team that was beating BC this year. They became a defensive juggernaut in the tournament led by Davis.

Davis: 2.34 / .917.
Caron: 2.35 / .915.

On paper, Caron is like Davis. Davis just stole the show in the tournament. Caron is not the reason there's no national title this season. He allowed 2 goals to the #1 offense in the nation. Caron also showed tremendous growth and improvement over the season. Credit to Daccord, who's clearly improved Caron's game from October. Earlier this season, I didn't think Caron could backstop a national championship. After seeing his play in the tournament, I believe he can.

I’ll throw my support for Caron for being able to backstop BU national championship. Gave up 1 regulation goal in the national semi while making 2 or 3 unbelievable saves. That usually gets it done. I too think he was screened by the Webber attempted block. Otherwise I think he gets that one. He was cool all game. Denver just really had something going this weekend and all tournament to win all 4 games scoring just 2 every game. You would think only a team like Cornell or Quinippiac could do something like that. Kudos to them.

Carle had a better game plan and succeeded. At the beginning of the game BC should have been more aggressive in attacking Denver early on. It’s a different game if BC scores first. For a good deal of time BC did not put pucks on net to any frequency while Denver was working hard and aggressively attacking when BC made mistakes. For a long time BC was stuck at 6 SOG until they realized they needed to start getting pucks on net being down 2-0 going into the last period.
