BU 23-24 Post-Season and Off-Season: Jacks and Coles

I think Wilmer to the portal is good for both parties. He played his way out of a top 6 forward role. I think Harvey outplayed him. I also think the problem with Wilmer (similar to mastrosimone/Phillips) is when you can’t crack the top 2 lines and arent gritty enough for 3rd/4th line. It’s not a good fit. I think his high assist total was due to playing with Celebrini and getting powerplay time first semester.

He can definitely get top 6 and powerplay minutes at other programs.

Before the 1978 final, Jack O'Callahan said, 'All we have to do is beat BC for the national championship? Heck, we can do that every day of the week.'

That was bulletin board material.

But O'Callahan and teammates backed it up. Had BU not won, O'Callahan would have have looked like Cutter does now.

I saw that quote reported in SI as “after” the game.

“We shouldn't have to beat BC for the nationals. Hell, we can do that anytime."

So looking ahead to next years schedule, are we aware of any other OOC games beyond Michigan coming to Agganis for 2 and the Beanpot? Do we make a trip to Lynah in return for Cornell's visit to Agganis in 22/23?

mookie is dying to visit lynah!!! Can’t wait

Peterson gone

Are you talking about Dylan Peterson? If so, then you and Jack have been hanging out together too long. Welcome to three days ago!! :) :) Plus he was a senior so of course he was gone.

Jofa - that's how I remember the quote as well. Plus I feel his comment was more sarcastic and jokey. I don't think Cutter's was. But whatever. Glad to see Lane get his first point. Too bad the Canadiens coughed up the lead and lost in OT.

I've read more than a few comments online from folks who were not at all surprised Wilmer left, take that for what it's worth.

Unless Wilmer has withdrawn from school, he is not gone. Entering the transfer portal means that he is looking to go. A lot of players that enter the transfer portal end up staying. Amonte last season being a case.

Wilmer is a talented playmaker, so I expect he will have offers.

Ty Gallagher entered the portal.

Not surprised by this one either. He really regressed this season and was basically a 6.5 d-man on the team. He turned into a turn-over machine. Classic case of a guy that needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Cade Webber officially signs with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Will he be a part of the roster when the Stanley Cup Playoffs start in Boston on Saturday?

Wilmer - the writing was on the wall over the last three games. I think the comments about him needing to a be a top 6 guy and isn't are spot on. He was a rare USNTDP guy that played an additional year before starting his college career.

Gallagher - agree with Bomber - he regressed. Not sure why, but he didn't even dress earlier in the season and just wasn't reliable the way you need a junior defenseman to be.

Lane - I watched most of both his games for the Canadiens. The Montreal fans love him already for sure - they were eating up his offensive zone moves. And two assists to boot. I'm not 100% convinced he'll start the season with the big club, but he showed he isn't far off. He had a lot of Gryzelck moves in his own zone (using the stick well) and showed surprising speed against guys like Dylan Larkin.

Peterson - in theory he and Tuch could have come back for one more year, but being high round draft picks, it seemed unlikely. Happy for them, Cade, and Stevens who have all signed deals.

Caron - he was a very good goalie for us and could absolutely win us a title. If the first few games of the season weren't in his numbers, he would have received more recognition.

Gauthier - I agree it wasn't bulletin board material, but nobody says that without knowing it is going to draw attention, and you risk it coming back to bite you. I don't know the guy at all, but with this and his move out of Philly, he isn't doing a lot for his image. Of course, scoring 30 as a rookie will change that quickly and he is in the relative quiet world of southern california.
