BU 2021-22: Albie's Great Adventure

Looks like Vinny gets the start tonight. I knew he would get consideration. They have played well in front of him. I kind of like the decision. If it doesn’t work out, you can all jump on me after the game.

I don’t get it at all. Albie being Albie.

We just beat BC at Agganis - if that doesn’t tell you we’re seriously hot, I don’t know what does!

Glad I didn’t have to eat my words about liking Vinny starting. He made some 5 bell saves for sure! Don’t like to give up one off the faceoff like that, but tip your cap to the shooter.

Other than getting a little too loose on the major, I thought it was another high energy and thorough effort. Play like this the rest of the way and things could turn out very nicely. Unfortunately we’re still on the edge of the standings and PWR every night until the regular season and Conference tournament is over. On to Conte!

Taking tonight's win with a grain of salt as BC is just a shell of a team due to the roster depletion - they looked like a 40-50 PWR rated team for sure.

Nice win - beating BC at Agganis is rare. That said, their play seemed to regress as the game went on. That 5 minute major was not good. Great to see Peterson stay hot.

Interesting that Stevens was beaten on the face-off goal by McBain, given that he has scored one of those himself this year.

I REALLY hope McCarthy is ok. He probably isn't given that he didn't return. That guy can't catch a break. He is critical to this team's success.

Lots of glitches on the broadcast tonight. But good interviews with the AD and Parker.

Planning to go to Conte tomorrow, haven't been there in eons. I'm assuming it won't sell out (I'll ask on the BC thread).

I believe BC had their full roster tonite all the Olympian’s were back. Not to say their team has been playing well

No, I meant depleted from last year; they've really been a shell of their former selves all season long. They're definitely re-loading for 22-23 so we'll see if they can restore themselves with this incoming class.

Hard to turn things around with Freshmen, but we should be better than this year. Need a shut down goalie and some studs at forward. But in hockey things can turn around quickly, just look at BU's season.

BC has some quality upperclassmen and should not be this bad. When you have McBain, McLaughlin, Giles, St. Ivany, Helleson...

Biggest issue by far has been goaltending. In this era of college hockey, no team is going to overcome a .88 save percentage. Maybe they thought they would get one more year from Knight but either way they weren't prepared.

I think you hit it right on with the goaltending. If you’re below .900, you’re going to be in the bottom half of Division 1 at best. Don’t know how BC got caught without a viable option. I’m assuming they thought Knight would be around this year as well.

Got the Globe online for a few months on a promotion for the end of the year. No article about last night’s game. The only mention of the game was on the scoreboard page with a line score. How could you not write something about a BU-BC game, especially when we are the hottest team in college hockey winning 8 in a row and 14-1-1 over 3 months? High school hockey gets more coverage as far as I can see. What a joke!

The once-great Globe sports section is a shadow of its former self and has been for some time. You'll need to take your complaint up with John Henry.

And BTW, what happened to all of the vitriolic "Fire Albie Now" posts?

The credit goes to Pandolfo! *smiley face*

The team has a had a major turnaround but you can’t excuse that start that could keep them out of the ncaa’s so that’s on him especially if the team as good as its looked in 2022. In a weird kind of way the turnaround almost works against him. A HE East championship game gives him a reprieve in my eyes and might get BU in the NCAA’s
