Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright
This group of forwards have zero chemistry. When was the last time they made two passes that resulted in a goal?
Bellows is gone. I hope he makes it to the end of the season.
Great game for the big O tonight. Without him they lose 5-2. He was the #1 star.
Oettinger stole those two points. It is what big game goalies do.
Harper has hit a wall. And he should never be back on the point of the powerplay. He is a major liability there, defensively. Move him back up.
I was surprised that Harper was back in the lineup, and Bellows out, after the second Merrimack game. Harper's nonchalance that led to Merrimack's shorthanded goal should have resulted in some bench time. Harper has had a terrific freshman campaign, but he has been off the boil lately.
I do not understand why Quinn won't play Bellows with Keller. They have had a terrific chemistry whenever they have played together. Yet they really haven't done that at BU. If Bellows is to break out, it is much more likely to happen with Keller than without. And we can see Greenway with JFK. That could get Greenway going again, too.
I hope that Bellows isn't another Coyle or Greer, who feels he needs to go somewhere else to get going. Even though he has been a disappointment, so far, he still has more to offer than the majority of BU's forwards. He needs to be a top-six forward.
Roberto and Curry are good third line guys. Cloonan is a great skater with very very little production. Chabot is a nice find.
The rest are interchangeable grinders, at best.
McAvoy needs to get some consistency back. The next level won't be calling until some consistency is added to his physical gifts. How many times has Krys bailed him out? That is what a good pair does, though. Same with Fabbro and Hickey.
BU has the big game goalie and the talent on the blueline. The forwards are sore spot at the moment, other than Keller, Carpenter and JFK (who had his first bad games against Merrimack, but otherwise has been excellent).
