Olsson. Hurt his knee/leg, something. Looked bad.

Quinn said in the presser it wasn't his knee. The first point of contact was the MC player's shoulder into Nik's head, wouldn't shock me if it's a serious concussion.

He was grabbing at his leg and favoring it as he was being helped off the ice. I don't think it was a concussion.

yeah don't know how they will survive without his 3 goals and 3 assists on the year. Might as well just forfeit the rest of the year

Bomber may have exaggerated but if you follow the team you know he brings more to the table than "3 goals and 3 assists." Frankly he is one of my favorite players on the team. His propensity to getting injured is unfortunate.

His injury history dates back to his days with the USNTDP. That's one of the reasons he played 2 more years in the USHL, missing significant time each of those seasons with major injuries.

Agreed he brings a lot more to the table than stats. His physicality and the stability he brings to the bottom-6 forwards can't be understated. They're 12-3-1 with Olsson; 4-4-1 without.

To boil down Nik Olsson's contributions on the ice to goals and assists is foolish, his contributions go far beyond points. He's precisely the guy we need on the ice to complement our young talent if this team is to go far.

Re: BU 2016-17 Season Thread I: The Kids are Alright

It's time for the seniors and juniors to figure this out and say whatever needs to be said in the locker room. Somerby, Olsson (even if he isn't playing) and Roberto, take charge. I don't think Somerby came back for a senior year that looks like the last two games, so I sure hope he is pretty ****ed off.

2 goals in 2 games with the talent they have is inexcusable. Maybe it's time to let all the 4th liners play and sit one or two guys from the top two lines.

Every team goes through a swoon, especially in college. BU will be fine. Not a team anyone wants to face in March / April.

OK - I guess someone has to be the bad guy, so I'll oblige. I just feel as though this has to be said. Everyone was all giddy because we swept BC. Did anyone notice what I did when watching them, however? It's not as though we blew them out or anything. And BC dominated the territorial play for large portions of both games, especially in the third periods. If they don't miss the net from nearly point blank range about 50 times, THEY sweep. Secondly, we are still "unproven" against the top teams. I don't care if it was "early in the year." As we know, with the PWR, all the games count equally.

So...I have lamented the two-edged sword of bringing in high-end talent every year and trading off the understanding that they won't stay very long. In that vein, I have questioned "leadership" because there are fewer upperclassmen who are also top players. OK. Fine. Let's take the players out of it. What about the COACH? How does a team that gets embarrassed on Tuesday come back flat and seemingly uninspired for the "rematch" at home? That is just inexplicable to me. So maybe we shouldn't focus so much on leadership from upperclassmen. Maybe some of these "World Junior" types who now think they are suddenly superstars aren't going to listen to their "peers" on the team. Maybe some leadership needs to come from the COACH. Because, I have to tell you, I saw ZERO effort last night. It was one of the most embarrassing "efforts" (and I use the word loosely) I have ever seen. And whose job is it to tell the players to IGNORE the stupid polls? How would you feel if you were Denver, who handled us twice (again, I don't care "when" the games were played) and is behind us? Immaturity allows stuff like that to go to one's head. It's up to the COACH to keep them focused and to tell them to ignore those distractions. Then, of course, there's always the thought in the back of one's mind that these guys are already dreaming of their pro careers and are just losing interest. Regarding your "swoon" comment, I think that's when this is most noticeable - when they're playing a "lesser" team. They seem to play better against the better competition. Yes, you can cut them some slack for an occasional stinker, but I'm not sure they will be "fine." As I said, they haven't yet proven to be an elite team. And regardless, they should be showing a little more consistent effort. That won't always result in a win, but last night they didn't even try. Or seem to care.

What's the over/under for Roberto taking a leadership role?:p

Couldn't agree more..he is far more important than his points.

When one of the chosen 5 on D miss a game I'll believe there is some accountability on this team...the 6th D spot is not the problem

Not sure which of the 5 D you want to be sit because Switzer was by far the weakest D man on the ice last night. He deserved a shot and MacLeod deserved to sit, but Shane had a very poor game. I'd expect to see Diffley out there tonight.

Edit: And the lines are released and MacLeod is in for Switzer. What the hell do I know.

It's pretty simple..when you have no fear of losing ice time ..game time or PP time this is the type of effort you get.. It's part of the package when you sell your soul to the NHL

I don't think he had his best game but didn't see him making any egregious mistakes...you know like turning over pucks for 2 on 1's and breakaways. I guess we just judge things differently..I do agree Diffley should be in the line up..I actually thought BU played its best hockey with both Diffley and Switzer in the line up
