Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

From the schedules thread... Playing Dartmouth at home on Wed Jan 8th....

Hmm.. a Wednesday night and I assume the students will still be on break at that point...

Not a good recipe for attendance for that one.

But we have such great success playing Ivy League teams mid-week!!;)

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Any truth to the rumor that "recruiter extraordinaire" Albie O'Connell is joining the BU staff next year? Big get for BU if this is true.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

anyone ambitious enough to type out a schedule-to-date?

MAR

This gives us 31 games out of the 34-game limit. I heard we are also supposed to play Bentley at Agganis (don't know the date yet), and I'm guessing that we may play Harvard at Bright since we played them at our place this past season. The schedules thread still has us playing Maine at Agganis on Sunday 11/17 in addition to playing them at Fenway, so not sure if this means the league is allowing us to count the Fenway game as non-conference game. If it does, then games against
Bentley, Harvard and Frozen Fenway would bring us to 14 non-conference games and 34 overall.
Please bear in mind that a few of these games are guesstimates, such as the date of the presumed exhibition game and the date of the games at Mighigan/MSU.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Did anyone else notice O'Regan in the front row of last night's B's game on the telecast. During the replays of Boychuck getting his head smashed against the glass, he's right over the action in a bright blue shirt - hard to miss.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Not going to lie, while I love going from playing every HE team 3x to 2x, I did enjoy the first weekend of december h & h

Frozen Fenway vs. Maine is non-conference. Home game vs. Maine should be a Sunday, 11/17. Bentley and UConn games--no official dates yet.

Correction. Frozen Fenway is a conference games, so scratch the 11/17 date. The other remaining OOC game besides Bentley and UConn is Harvard, probably on January 4. If Grzelcyk makes the WJC team, good chance he'd miss that game.

Haven't heard that one. I would like to see someone like Scott Young or Chris Drury join the staff. I can't see Quinn keeping Bavis. Bavis wants the head coaching job, and the only way he could be considered again is if Quinn and/or the program fails.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

I believe Scott Young and David Quinn were roommates while at BU..I would think after Powers leaves that is the replacement

Scott is working at his kid's school as head coach right now. Timing may not be just right for the move now.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Not sure why Drury would be a candidate, as it appears his coaching experience is only on the youth level. Young just finished his third year at St. Mark’s, trying to rebuild his alma mater and has developed some good players.

O’Connell has an impressive track record as a recruiter, convincing Gaudreau and Gillies to commit to Northeastern. The former decommitted when Greg Cronin resigned and the latter did so when Rawlings elected to stay at NU for his senior year. O’Connell was suspended along with Cronin for six games due to a possible violation involving excessive text messaging. The past two seasons, he’s been Donato's assistant at Harvard where, in addition to recruiting, he focused on special teams. Crimson had a top notch power play two years ago, not so much this past season.

Haven't heard his name mentioned, but Shawn McEachern spent five years as a college hockey assistant coach (4 in HE) before becoming head coach at The Rivers School.

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

Have we actually confirmed that Bavis is leaving? Or is this all just speculation and "what it's" at this point?

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

If Bavis resigned according USHR, then I would assume Albie O'Connell will be at BU

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

It is now official..Bavis has resigned according to the BU Blog..The only way O'Connell doesn't get the job is if he declines it which I cannot imagine happening

Re: BU 2013 Offseason Thread - Bring on the Mighty Quinn

If in fact this is true, best wishes for the future to Mike Bavis. I appreciate your contributions to the program both as a player and as a staff member.
