BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Surprised that Goalie Travis Bosch seeing little to no action. Wasn't he a highly-touted recruit brought in when Dalton left?

From what I can recall (and I am not 100% sure on this), but I think he was a late addition to the recruiting class after Dalton announced he was leaving. I don't believe he was highly-touted. Dalton was highly touted with his numbers in the NAHL and USHL.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Beavers win 3-2 in overtime, take 3 of 4 points out of Omaha. Great Job Guys!

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Nice series against UNO.

Has anyone been following any posts over on the UNO site? I am wondering if any of the UNO fans are still frustrated with BSU playing the trap...........:p

I have! They haven't really said anything about the trap, but are complaining about the Mavericks not showing up and the reffing costing them the games. Only one or two UNO fans have really given the Beavers any props.

I am going to have to head over there to see if there is anything new. You can go and lurk, you don't have to be a member to read. mavpuck.com

I lurk once in a while. I tried joining (to offer some reasoning due to a couple UNO posters having no clue about hockey basics) but I wasn't allowed to. That UNO site is yellow. :p

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

So, BSU is now four points out of home ice for the playoffs and sit at #21 in the Pairwise. Every series is huge from here on out. With St. Cloud, Mankato and Michigan Tech all left on the schedule and those being the teams behind the Green in the standings, well, 'nuf said.

Keep the foot on the gas this weekend, Beavers!

I am optimistic about this team the second half of the season. The first half had its challenges with the transition into the WCHA and a "welcome to the WCHA schedule" to go with it. With that being stated, BSU has had some chances to get points with the 9 WCHA losses but failed to capitalize. One thing the WCHA has taught me is that BSU can play a decent game and still lose.

I think it is realistic to expect this team to finish in the top half. As usual our defense is playing tight and our goaltending is solid. Read is starting to warm up and if we can get production out of other players and the injury bug stays away it should be an entertaining second half!

The Beavers could be up four points or more, too. The Friday night losses against UMD, UAA, WI and St Cloud are going to hurt. IIRC, they had leads slip away in all of those games except Duluth. It will be an uphill battle to get home ice. Hopefully, that last home series against MN will get them the opportunity to earn home ice.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

If (written with optimism as a basic fact of life) the Beavers were to get home ice for the first round of the playoffs... does the Sanford Center have a price set for those tickets or are they a set amount determined by the WCHA? I would guess they would be at least 5 dollars over the face value now.

Wouldn't that be sweet?

Also, has anything been done about the music etc. in this long extended off time? Would love to enter on Friday with a better atmosphere. Crowd participation would help.

great picture of Matt Read (from this weekend I would guess) on the home page of D-1 here for the three stars selection.

...and going off of that I wonder how student ticketing would work since most students get into the games using ID/Season ticket cards.

If you have season tickets, the WCHA playoffs are included in your package. For remaining unsold tickets, they first sell them as three game packages for around $40-$50 total. A few days later, they will sell single game tickets.

For students though, they are generally on Spring Break WCHA playoff weekends (I believe BSU is), so 1) tickets are pretty easy to get and 2) no, or little, student section, so the atmosphere is a little quieter.

I would be pleasantly surprised to see a new intro and music. Come on Northern FX, put a couple quarters in the juke box for some new tunes!

Also, the loss to Huntsville is going to hurt their RPI and the Pairwise standing.

On a side note, former Beaver Ryan Huddy has been called up to San Antonio (AHL) from Las Vegas (ECHL). San Antonio now has Matt Climie, Matt Pope and Ryan Huddy.

BSU is on Spring Break, and unless the team clinches home ice early, ticket sales usually lag, so if they do host, I can't imagine prices would be jacked up.

I know things have been addressed, but to what extent, we'll see on Friday.

edit - the aux. scoreboard on the student end has been lowered quite a bit, so that it is much more visable, so that change should be quite noticable...

Am I the only one offended by the implication that it's up to NLFX to "put a few qarters" in for tunes? Why is it up to a company that already donates quite a bit to BSU hockey, to donate more? If someone wants more music, better intro's (which, BTW, are pretty good - and, if you go over to UND, they've had the same intro for at least 2-3 years...), etc., put some money up yourself! And don't forget, BSU just spent a lot of money on the "BSU area" (note that the city and state provided the four walls of the Sanford Center, and BSU was responsible for everything else - weight room equipment, locker room stuff, training room equipment, need I go on?), and some stuff has had to be left out. Good lord - it's like everyone wants something for nothing.
