BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Kudos to BSU/Sanford Center for the improvements made over the past month. It's nice to be able to hear the band!

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

I agree... huge kudos to the Sanford for the improvements. Was fantastic last night to see new season ticket holders chanting B E M I D J I after the goal. The band sound system was great. Excellent job.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Former Beaver Chris McKelvie has been called back up to the Connecticut Whale of the AHL from Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL.

http://www.hartfordwolfpack.com/default.asp?ctwhale=59&objId=1061

Chris McKelvie is out with a sliced toe.....

"The same could be said for the Whale on Tuesday night, when they host Providence in the start of a four-game homestand. They will have to make more changes as wing Chris McKelvie will have surgery Monday to repair a sliced toe sustained when he was stepped on in the second period Saturday night. McKelvie was playing his first game since being called up for the second time from Greenville of the ECHL on Thursday."

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

The Beavers head to Mankato this week for an important series standings wise. Mankato is up two points in the standings (14), but BSU has two games in hand. Right now, sixth place and home ice cut off is with Minnesota/CC, who are tied at 18. Anchorage and St. Cloud sit with 16 points, but BSU has two games in hand over Anchorage.

Right now, UND and Denver are one-two in the standings, so it is important to stay out of 11th place (I don't think Tech will overtake BSU if the Green should happen to stay in 11th). It would be nice to get up to that 8th spot and have a chance to draw UNO again, but the Beavers have played well against Duluth and Wisconsin, currently 3 and 4.

A couple of weeks ago, I thought 30 points was going to be needed for home ice. It is beginning to look like that is less likely to be the case as the middle of the pack seems to basically treading water. There is a great chance to make a move here!

This will be a very interesting series. BSU hasn't played since getting swept by SCSU. SCSU was lucky not to get swept by Mankato. If we split with Mankato (2 points), BSU goes to Tech (I'll go with 3 points), hosts CC (2 points), at ND (1 point) and hosts the Gophers (2 points). Total of 10 points, moving up to 22 points.

Mankato: BSU, @CC, Duluth, AA - guessing 8 points, totaling 22 points
AA: Tech, @ND, UNO, @MSU - guessing 7 points, totaling 23 points
SCSU: @UNO, @Duluth, ND, WI, @DU - guessing 7 points, totaling 23 points
Minn: @UMD, DU, @WI, Tech, @BSU - guessing 11 points, totaling 29 points
CC: DU, MSU, @BSU, Duluth, @WI - guessing 9 points, totaling 27 points

I think BSU could go up two-to-three spots (11th to 9th), which would be nice not having to play UND, UMD or DU. Of course stuff happens/that's why they play the games. Some Friday night losses definitely cost them in the standings.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

I really thought this years team was going to have a decent year, boy was i wrong...just hoping they can finish with 10 wins.

Re: BSU '10-'11: Can the Beav's Read the W and be in the Hunt?

Two BSU recruits have been traded here recently.

Sam Windle was traded from Chicago to Des Moines of the USHL.

Danny Mattson was traded from Chicago to Youngstown of the USHL.

Chicago is out of the playoff contention in the USHL, while the other two teams have a chance of making the playoffs.

Tyler Scofield is playing for EC Klagenfurter AC in the Erste Bank League in Austria. Information is a little (okay, a lot) harder to come by for that league, but here is the message board site for Austrian Hockey:
