Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Again, not sure where it is you interpreted players wanting to give their spots to previous players. But anyways, it's only the coach who feels threatened by the players cut not the players on the team. If the team's rebuilding like you claim, people are going to be losing spots no matter what. I bet anyone on that team would rather have a player they respect take their spot than some new incoming freshman who hasn't proved themself yet.

It's even less happy of an event when the coaches make decisions that don't necesarily represent the one a team would of made.

So let me see Scotty Bowman, as coach you would have the remaining players determine which lucky, unproven freshman gets the slots from last year's graduating seniors. Yeah, I guess if the players are going to run the team, you don't need Digit or Scotty.

Your (and cookie's) whole attitude is that a roster spot is yours to lose once you've made the team. Perhaps that is how it works in house hockey, but in college hockey, you can be cut at any time and are NOT entitled to a roster spot next year if you have remaining eligibility, hence the tryout at the beginning of the season that cookie was whining about. And the coach has the final say, until the AD relieves the coach of those duties or the University President relieves both of them of their duties.

Gotice made an important note - the season is about over, so it is time for you and cookie to pack up your show for the summer.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Agree completely, that's why some people feel there is a dire need for a change. A college coach doesn't have to answer to anyone or provide an explanation for their actions. That's why so many people at Brown are calling for the coaches head, they want a new one to come in who'll make decisions that at least a majority of the team supports.

Let me repeat that which has been said several times.... The coach answers to the AD, who won't listen to your nonsense. If you don't like that, I suggest you try the university president with your call for Digit's head. I guess you guys think the AD and President must be reading this thread along with Digit.

And let me make it clear that a hockey team is not a democracy. It is an activity that the coach allows you to participate in. Your opinion as a player is your opinion - nothing more. This is not the hockey club (as opposed to hockey team) at high school where the popular girls get to kick out the nerdy girls.

.... hence the tryout at the beginning of the season that cookie was whining about.

OK, hate to do this, but in ccookie's defense, she started by asking a question. The whining came later, as it seemed she didn't get the response she wanted.

This in response to a comment from gotice, which stated:

The bottom line is it is not any of our jobs to decide who stays, who gets cut, who gets playing time, and who doesn't. ...

... In the real world, the employer makes the rules and sets the tone of the work place, not the employees. If you want to keep your job, you fall in line and get with the program or you find yourself unemployed. In my opinion, that is exactly what happened to the previous players. Welcome to the ADULT world. Get over it and move on.

The bottom part of the above quote is what's important here. A place on the team is not guaranteed and we have no control as to who gets those spots or why (unless, of course, I'm Digit :D )

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

All of your arguments are based on statements like “you aren’t ready”, “you are simply”, “you may have blah blah blah”, or “this indicates a disgruntled player/whiny parent”, the unfounded psycho babble b.s. you’ve been feeding this forum at best can be described as insipid.

Why are you so concerned with who cookie even is? Solving the identity crisis, that’s facing a lot of people right now, is meaningless for this discussion. She could be someone’s four-year-old little sister but if she makes a point then she’s just as much of an emissary than anyone else here.

You still have not made one point as to why Digit shouldn’t be getting the boot. To help you get started on building a strong argument, how about you talk about things that are completely 100% factual, not biased. So my personal advice would begin with stating things like I think, I meant, I did… you know things that you can actually be accountable of. You attempting to justify and provide certain meanings to certain actions other than your own isn’t doing anything to prove your case.

Actually revealing cookie's identity will tell the forum community whether she is really a parent of a Brown hockey freshman as she claims to be who is throwing her daughter's coach under the bus in public - an action which YOU or anyone else haven't been able to defend yet. I'm still suspecting that she is not being truthful about her indentity and may very well be a disgruntled former player pretending to be a parent which would be even worse as it besmirches the reputation of all of the parents of Brown players.

Let me repeat it again. FAMILY MEMBERS OF CURRENT PLAYERS SHOULD NOT TALK ILL OF THE COACH IN A PUBLIC DISCUSSION.

That is why I am here. I am not here to defend Digit specifically, but to defend the decency that should be afforded to all coaches.

And if you want the one reason Digit should not be fired, it is because the AD is satisfied with her performance. That is Digit's job. The AD is employed because the University President is satisfied with the AD's performance. The University President satisfies the Trustees. So whine all you want. You are a fan and entitled to do so all day long. Just know that by feeding this thread with support that YOU ARE ENABLING COOKIE'S AGENDA and IMHO no better than her.

Fair enough. I'll give her a pass on the first question. It all started so innocently...

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I would like to see ALL discarded players returned to the team. Unfortunately, for those of them who were seniors, that is obviously not a possibility. Just sad, really!

Yes, let's return to house hockey like it was just after they stopped pushing garbage cans around the ice.

And while you are still on Fantasy Island, why don't you petition the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility for those seniors, so you can have your fantasy hockey team back together next season.

I think I've tried to say this before myself, and perhaps not as eloquently, but at the end of the day this IS all that matters. There is simply no place for hurt feelings, other than perhaps among your own family and friends.

This is reality.

This!

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

.....Let me repeat it again. FAMILY MEMBERS OF CURRENT PLAYERS SHOULD NOT TALK ILL OF THE COACH IN A PUBLIC DISCUSSION.......

Tried to convey this early on with little success. Since then this thread has degraded into a petty name calling fest in which I refuse to participate.

However notfromaroundhere's message bears repeating with an exclamation point added to it:

Past, Current and Future Parents, Players or staff SHOULD NOT TALK ILL OF THE COACH IN A PUBLIC DISCUSSION. !!

P.S....Just today called out a poster on the Ontario forum, who took a shot at the head coach of Laurier after they lost their last game in the season to go 26-1 instead of 27-0. All this coach has done in the past 6 years is 6 OUA championships, and one National Crown in the CIS to go along with a few other CIS medals.

The poor taste post:

and my rebuttal:

Incroyable.

Do you actually try to make Brown look unapealing for recruits?

And yes Digit did get to kick out the "outcasted" kids, but not one person has mistaken that for her being popular.

Fans can criticize a coach as much as they want. It's not our fault the only fans of women's hockey tend to be family and friends.

Can you read ?. I never said anything about Fans. Don't twist things around.

I was talking about insiders, past, present or future. Some of the naysayers on here have stated themselves they are/were directly connected to Brown in one of those capacities.

And if the fan base is completely part of the insiders club, than there should not be ANY negative talk about a coach in Public. Deal with it properly behind closed doors from within.

All already regret weighing back in.

I suspect anyone reading this thread who isn't familiar with the Womens college game would not want to become a fan. So...maybe it is your fault. Your certainly doing the game as a whole, a diservice by posting all this crap...

Actually, my whole attitude has been I don't approve of the decisions Digit has been making as a coach. That includes, cuts, on-ice criticism, off-ice criticism, and even threw some morals in there too.

I'm not posting anything just so that the president or AD can see it, I'm posting because it's a fan forum.

I'm expressing my opinions solely for the team's sake not for some hatred of Digit. Please don't give her credit for that too.

I would of given her that courtesy, but again, she was the one who made any issues public knowledge in the first place. Sorry whatever she had scheming came back to haunt her.

You can keep explaining what moral grounds you feel people should post on, but if you haven’t noticed, I along with anyone else have my own morals that I chose to abide by.

From her history of supporting Cookie's effort despite having it explained over and over what Cookie's agenda is, either hcky85 can't read, or she is a tool.
