Can you read ?. I never said anything about Fans. Don't twist things around.
I wasn't twisting you words, I was providing my own opinion. But I like to give credit where credit is due. So I would like you to know notfromaroundhere, that you are quite the talented illusionist when it comes to creating images out of words.

I’ll give the imaginary plot tactic a go to then. It looks like one kid was able to get the coaching staff so rattled that they needed to cut both her and her friends and say sarania by trashing their reputations on their way out.

That has to show the extent to how much the coaches actually lack control over their team as well as the level of respect players have for them. It takes a very large majority percentage of a team to join together to overthrow a coach, and if the coaches were that nervous about the potential power involved with strength in numbers, than yeah why not cut any player at the first sight of a “mutiny”?

Although no one has actually mentioned the alleged actions that supposedly happened, we can just keep labeling it as a “mutiny” as if some barbaric kid was coming after the coaches with a torch-carrying mob following right behind her. As far as anyone knows on this forum, this mutiny could have been just as small as a comment like, “hey, the coaches don’t look like they want to be here”. But there are no descriptions of any events, just things being labeled (quite negatively I’ll add).

I’m not calling for details to be thrown out here either, I’m just pointing out certain biases.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Do you actually try to make Brown look unapealing for recruits?

And yes Digit did get to kick out the "outcasted" kids, but not one person has mistaken that for her being popular.

Your lack of reading comprehension seems to be doing a better job of making Brown look unappealing for anyone, if you have anything to do with the institution.

Hello, my point was was that ALL hockey teams operate this way (not a democracy). I did not use the word "Brown" in that post, so I cannot fathom why you thought I was referring only to Brown.

And Digit's job description does not include being "popular" with her players. She is not there to be their friend. It may happen over the course of the player-coach relationship, but that is secondary to being a teacher of the game, organizer of play, manager of the roster, etc. that are the duties of the coach.

If you want a friend, get a dog.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Actually revealing cookie's identity will tell the forum community whether she is really a parent of a Brown hockey freshman as she claims to be who is throwing her daughter's coach under the bus in public - an action which YOU or anyone else haven't been able to defend yet. I'm still suspecting that she is not being truthful about her indentity and may very well be a disgruntled former player pretending to be a parent which would be even worse as it besmirches the reputation of all of the parents of Brown players.

Let me repeat it again. FAMILY MEMBERS OF CURRENT PLAYERS SHOULD NOT TALK ILL OF THE COACH IN A PUBLIC DISCUSSION.

That is why I am here. I am not here to defend Digit specifically, but to defend the decency that should be afforded to all coaches.

And if you want the one reason Digit should not be fired, it is because the AD is satisfied with her performance. That is Digit's job. The AD is employed because the University President is satisfied with the AD's performance. The University President satisfies the Trustees. So whine all you want. You are a fan and entitled to do so all day long. Just know that by feeding this thread with support that YOU ARE ENABLING COOKIE'S AGENDA and IMHO no better than her.

No ones defending accusations because there's no need too.

And are you sure everyone's satisfied, not mabye pre-occupied. The economy is forcing Brown to make budget cuts and faculty members are being layed off that don't even deserve to be. I would assume the University President might have a lot on her plate right now, that shouldn't be mistaken as support for Digit.

From her history of supporting Cookie's effort despite having it explained over and over what Cookie's agenda is, either hcky85 can't read, or she is a tool.

I've been called worse.

If no one from Brown has a problem with an insider like cookie posting whatever, then I do not have a problem with it either.

I guess from your point of view (some coaching standpoint), this could be a scary situation. I can only imagine the fear that would be running through my mind if I was a coach and I had done things in the past that never quite surfaced or maybe told some tall tales about events or players. Not saying this is the case at Brown, I just see your need to defend coaches.

I'm OnMAA, and live in Ontario, Canada. I happen to know where "notfromaroundhere" lives, and I can tell you it is not around here where I live, and it is nowheres near providence RI either. !

Maybe because this thread is about Brown so I made an assumption. It might of been wrong but I don't think it was that hard to fathom upon.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I have never met Digit, I wouldn't know her if she was standing right in front of me, but I do know that a coach who has been successful in the past doesn't cut players just for the hell of it. If any of you truly believe that a coach would randomly cut players, knowing that it would have a negative affect on the skill level of the team with out some cause, then I want to know what you are smoking. I think it is more to do with personality conflicts and the bottom line is that it is not the coach's job to conform to the variety of personalities on a team, it is the player's responsibility to conform to the coach's system. Those players who were cut, got a big dose of reality. In the real world, the employer makes the rules and sets the tone of the work place, not the employees. If you want to keep your job, you fall in line and get with the program or you find yourself unemployed. In my opinion, that is exactly what happened to the previous players. Welcome to the ADULT world. Get over it and move on.

THIS!!!

I'm trying to get by with my reading level. But since your not the only one reading what's being posted here I thought I could give a compliment to notfromaroundhere, although it was in a post that was a response to one of yours.

Hence "you notfromaroundhere" was suppose to indicate that I was changing the person I was adressing. I'll keep posts separate from now on, didn't know it would create another problem.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Your (and cookie's) whole attitude is that a roster spot is yours to lose once you've made the team.

Maybe, just maybe, that kind of complacent attitude among even a small segment of Brown players, might be part of the reason the team didn't perform very well the last 2-3 years, and perhaps help explain part of the reason for turnover.

One of the posters on this forum used to use a signature line "Hard work beats talent that doesn't work very hard". Hmm.

Whether you agree with the roster decisions made or not, this year's Brown team is at least very hard working.

What planet do you live on? No college hockey team whether north or south of the border is run as a democracy or a popularity contest, so the fact that Brown is not either does not make it less appealing to recruits as a result.

And you can try to make that argument. But the fact that they did worse this season than last or any season in the history of the program, it's a hard one to make.

Explanation accepted. It just caused confusion. This thread is hard enough to follow even with proper quoting. Many on here put (or take) things out of context, which is part of the problem with these boards.

For someone so against entitelment, I would of thought you'd be a supporter of democracy too.

The free and equal right of every person to participate in a system of government, often practiced by electing representatives of the people by the majority of the people.

"Democracy is like the experience of life itself - always changing, infinite in its variety, sometimes turbulent and all the more valuable for having been tested for adversity."

I know Mao Zedong isn't still running things over in China anymore, but you're communist ideology might be embraced more welcomly over there. Or, atleast that's what I would think.

I agree.

I thought I should make a point of saying so because this doesnt happen to much.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Just to point out, from the beginning I thought indicators like record, attrition rate and public approval should have been used to measure the efficiency of a coach. But for some reason they were rejected by the masses. If you don’t want to accept these statistics, then you’re letting these issues be determined by who can manipulate the situation best.

Hockey’s based on points and stats. Not personal matters and egos. If you have a player who puts points on the board, even if they had fumbled a little outside of the rink, a good coach tries to help the players through whatever it is there going through. A good person tries to help even if a player isn't good. So as long as the topic of cutting players keeps being brought up, I'm going to continue not to praise the decision of a coach to quit on players.

You are grossly mixing your principles. People have the freedom to choose among competing capitalist opportunities. Those opportunities however are propietary unto their owner, in this case the Trustees of Brown, to run the place however the heck they wish! You have the democratic right to choose not to go there.

And I have the democratic right to voice my opinions or even start a mutiny if that's what I want.
