Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I think we as a group just might have discovered a secret to help with the success of Brown....

A Harvard fan throws a few accolades towards a Brown player. This is re-inforced with more positive accolades and what happens....The Player, a rookie, scores two goals the next day. Way to go kiddo.

So lets throw more positive re-inforcement toward the Brown players.

Go Bruno.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I noticed that Junior Samantha Stortini, Senior Sasha Van Muyen and Sophomore Skyelar were not listed in the line up today. Hopefully they are not injured and will be ready to play for Senior day next weekend. Also, I have noticed a few times this year that the box score has a player identified as only number 6 (no name) listed. Brown does not have a number 6, anyone know what this is about?

On the box score there are asterisks by 5 players on each team. Is that for the starters?

Most likely just a typo in the stats input.

I thought so the first time I saw it happen. However, this is at least the third time it has happened that I have noticed this season. What makes it curious is that there are actually stats associated with it such as shot on goal or plus and minus percentage. I haven't noticed if the phantom number has ever been credited with a goal or an assist. Perhaps it is just an accounting for plays when a player can't be identified during a play?

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Well whoever does stats can't just make up a number. They would have to give the shot to a numbered player, so maybe some carelessness? From the stats, it looks like #6 only appears in one game, so it'll probably get noticed eventually.

It's not a big deal. I was just curious. I have seen it in at least three games and if you only noticed it in one game, perhaps, it is a temporary record that someone in the SID office reviews and corrects after the game. Thanks for your observation.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Fastforward as my heart sank when these threads started as it was painful for me to know that she would have to endure all this mud slinging, innuendo and constant bickering about her team, her coach and their less than stellar win/loss record on inexplicably, a public forum for the entire hockey world to see. Family, friends, former team mates, former teachers and yes former coaches among others had it all splayed out in front of them. The very things that they were taught from a young age to deal with in the room were being debated in front of thier very eyes by people they didn't even know. Unbefreakinlievable!

I tried to point out in my very first post that these types of things can tear a dressing room apart, drive wedges so deep you would need dynamite to remove them...but oh no... some of the posters here would have none of that, they were going to be heard with little or no regard as to who they ran over.... in order to accomplish....what?

What was she taught from a young age to deal with in the locker room that we’re debating?

Too many chose to overlook the team and what effect this was having on them as they persisted in all this senseless debate. That is sad..very sad.

As I'm on record in my first post, I don't mind repeating...some of you here should be ashamed of yourselves.

Hang in there Erica, tell your team mates to do the same. Many here are pulling for you all.

Godspeed Brown Bears!

I’d agree, there is a huge lack of hockey ethics. Making statements like an Ivy League AD views winning second to building character and citizenship is absurd. That might apply for admissions, but you won’t find that anywhere in the athletic departments mission statement. Holding Digit to the same standards as a u12 youth hockey coach lacks any respect for the players on that team. Parents complain and criticize them, everyone thinks they’re annoying for doing so, but a youth coach of course never gets fired. Why are these the same exact repercussions Digit is being subjected to? These players are still d-1 varsity athletes, choosing to go to an Ivy League institution does not insinuate that these students chose to be noncompetitive athletes, or second rate d-1 athletes.

So please, don’t try to guilt trip me with your alleged hockey ethics. You’re attempts to sweep all issues of a hockey program that’s in serious need for a change under the rug is less than noble. And for that, you lack far more respect for these players than I do.

you hit the nail on the head.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

I can speak to the proper spelling and the character of # 8 Erica Farrer. This young power forward is a true athlete in every sense of the word. Fierce competitor, quiet leader, big, strong, smart, huge wing span and arguably the most well conditioned player on the team. I've had the pleasure of coaching and knowing Erica for a number of years and was very happy for her when she was accepted at Brown and reached her goal of playing Ivy.

It’s almost ironic, that the Harvard commentators during the game remarked on how a brown senior was lacking sportsmanship when she got a penalty and was arguing with the reff all the way to the box. I don’t know where that senior could have possibly seen someone yelling at a reff during a game and then thinking that it’s an appropriate reaction. Thankfully, we have a freshmen have someone from the opposing team applaud her character. This reassures me that although Digit’s record might have been declining over the past four years, at least she’s dedicating her efforts to building leadership and citizenship. Erica Farrer’s integrity and talent can only reflect Digit’s mentoring and coaching.

I think it had to have been one of our forefathers that said, “You can pay for school, but you can’t buy class.” Well, did Digit prove that theory wrong or what?

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

What was she taught from a young age to deal with in the locker room that we’re debating?

First of all... in hockey it's a called a dressing room, not a locker room. I would submit that in itself speaks volumes about what you know...so let's just leave it at that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I always thought dressing rooms were typically the rooms you got dressed in at away rinks that only have benches and hooks. And I don’t know if it’s different but here in the U.S. most “dressing rooms” in someone’s home rink actually have full lockers and I’m going to have to say a lot people call those locker rooms. So I’d label that as a technicality instead of a mistake that you can assume my life story from.

So after reading your last post, should I make judgments on your arrogance or your inability to make a point? Joking, I’ll blame it on the language barrier.

I'll blame it on a thick skull, an enormous sense of entitlement, and hypoxia from the lack of oxygen way up there around the top of his pedestal.
