Brown Hockey 2011-2012 - The Future Is Now

Re: Brown Hockey 2011-2012 - The Future Is Now

Are you saying or at least suggesting as a Q fan that Brown was outplaying Q until the penalty?
I wouldn't say outplaying but it was still a 1-1 game and past the half-way point of the 3rd period. A lucky bounce is all that would have been needed to swing the tide. We had trouble all night trying to get one past DeFilippo. When Whittet got tossed it certainly appeared that the Bears went back on their heels. It was bad enough that they were facing 1:13 of 5-on-3 time at that point... the bench minor just extended that. I won't say they gave up, but after the 1st PPG it was obvious they weren't going to get back in the game.

I doubt then that Q is looking past Brown. Could be a good series despite Brown's overall record at your rink. I am thinking 3 games, but not sure who will take it. A lot depends on whether Bruno gets its injured players back. Playing at 100% strength will help.

By the way, if anyone hasn't checked out the front page USCHO article yet, do it! It's a great story. I think College Hockey Network or Inside College Hockey ran a similar story recently as well that was more focused on the kid's relationship with Bobby Farnham, but this is far more in-depth and personal. Best wishes to Ethan and his family in the ongoing fight against leukemia.

As long as Red Cloud isn't in the student section, I'll take my chances there! :p

If you spent time there actually cheering, I think you'd prefer Red Cloud. Some of your fans threatened to sue RPI because they thought they'd get respect and political correctness in the middle of the students section.

Wow. That's just embarrassing, really. Why wouldn't they move? I sincerely doubt a game against Brown was sold out (unless it was a Freakout game).

As for me, I sat in the upper deck of the TD Garden wearing a Rangers jersey a couple week ago, and incessantly heckled the Bruins fans surrounding me. I can handle a bunch of drunk college kids. :)

It was the playoffs during spring break, and it wasn't even close to half-full. They probably didn't move because that seat is what their ticket said (don't get me started on why the box office people put them there and not behind the pole where we don't have to look at you visiting fans :p:D).

I know I can handle myself around college students, and even have fun with it.

I will never understand why, in an empty house, people feel compelled to sit in their own seats. I've heard of people sticking to their assigned seats in the upper tier at Meehan, and I am puzzled, because there is ALWAYS a plethora of better vantage points. But, to each his own, I suppose!

I love feel good stories like this. It's what makes the college game so special. What happens off the ice is far more important than what happens on it. Kudos to Bobby Farnham, the entire team and staff. You are making a huge difference in the life of this child, as I'm sure he is in yours as well.

Well said. You are clearly a class act.

Amen to this. What makes it even more special is that all of these student-athletes also spend a lot of time in class, which makes this charity work all the more special.
