Former Tennessee Titans OC Mike Heimerdinger, of cancer.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

I'm beginning to wonder if TCM host Robert Osborne is going to show up here soon. They are persisting with the obvious lie that he's "on vacation." He's been gone since Mid July. This isn't a vacation, it's a sabatical. I mean if he's ill or recovering from surgery just say that, with no more details. But this "vacation" lie is really beginning to get on my nerves.

Unless he or his family asked TCM to hide his health, thus saying he's on vacation makes much more sense.

Then come up with a better lie. Nobody who's an employee takes three month vacations. Besides, didn't TCM make a reference to "minor surgery" sometime after he left? And he's nearly 80. They can say he's on a dig in the Himalayas or researching film libraries in Timbucktu. But stop insulting our collective intelligence with that "vacation" fairy tale. I hope he returns, and soon. It is in his absence we're realizing how much he adds to their programming. Nobody I've seen as a temp comes close to being an adequate replacement.

I'm sure he'd be very upset to know that their "cover up" wasn't good enough for you.

Oh, blow it out your leotards. Like I'm the only guy to notice he's taking a three month "vacation."

Come to think of it-we noticed that he was looking a little drawn in the months before his 'vacation'. You may be on to something. Would be a bit of a shame since we enjoy his coomments before and after some of the classic movies with some insider information.

All I'm saying is I hope he's all right, and returns soon. And that the "vacation" explanation is a little thread bare. I think he sets just the right tone, informative but not overly in awe of his guests. They'll play h*ll finding a replacement.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

This was released last week

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will be heading to Hollywood in style for the third edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival, the network’s star-studded event to be held Thursday, April 12 – Sunday, April 15, 2012. TCM will welcome classic movie fans from around the globe for the four-day cinematic celebration.

The central theme of the 2012 edition of the TCM Classic Film Festival will be a celebration of style in the movies, from fashion to architecture to production design. The theme will touch on both the influence that movies have on popular styles and the impact that current trends have on the movies. Whether it’s the look of a film’s sets, costumes, title design or movie poster, this theme will put the Hollywood aesthetic in whole new light.

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which has a longstanding role in movie history and was the site of the first Oscars® ceremony, will once again serve as the official hotel for the festival, as well as a central gathering point for attendees. Screenings and events will also be held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the Chinese 6 Theatres and theEgyptian Theatre.

TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne will serve as official host of the festival. TCM weekend daytime host Ben Mankiewicz will also host various events at the festival.

So it would seem he is fine.

ETA: The statement from TCM originally was
On July 11, 2011, TCM announced that Osborne will be taking "a short break from his TCM hosting duties for minor surgery, followed by a vacation." He plans to return in three months, the announcement said.

3 months would be October 11...

ETA2: According to his official website he was at the Hollywood Bowl for an appearance on September 3.

All the other nonsense aside, this is wonderful news. Osborne has a relaxed, interesting raconteur style with a million great stories. And I'd kill for that voice.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

No, but I bet you're one of the few seemingly taking it personally. God forbid the guy wants some privacy, right?

Because this is about me, right? You're the one busting my b*lls because I'm concerned about Osborne's health. What kind of "minor surgery" requires three months of recovery? What could account for the length of time he's been gone? Chemo? And a press release talking about an event he's scheduled to attend six months down the road is hardly proof that he's "fine." Apart from the fact that you libtard priks reflexively argue with any point I make, this is not "normal." Again, I hope he's okay and returns ahead of schedule. But I'm still a little worried. So sue me.

Calm down. Have some dip.
