Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

Hey I got nothing but love for Steve Jobs (the post Mac Steve Jobs, after he was fired from Apple originally) as I think he figured out there is more to computers than just which OS was better. His work with Pixar and the NeXT computers were way more important if you ask me. OS X was based on the NeXTStep, the Apple Store and Itunes were based on WebObjects. Without his being ousted from Apple in 1985 there would be no Iphones, Ipods or Ipads. Even if I dont use any of those things, my Android Devices (which is Linux so SHUT UP! ;) ) would not exist without the work he did.

Plus the dude was a modern day P.T. Barnum, he could make people believe they NEEDED all this stuff, even if they didn't.
I'm still trying to figure out how he convinced people that they needed 2 ipods, an iphone, and an itouch, when the iphone did everything that the ipod and itouch did.

I am still trying to figure out how he convinced people back in the day to preorder the Iphone 3G for an extra $200 when they could wait in line at the store and get them for the normal price ;)

Hell I am still trying to figure out how the sales didnt tank on the IPhone 4 when the antennae didnt work half the time. (you needed to tilt your head to get it to work) People not only still bought them...THEY DEFENDED THEM!! The man is my hero :)

If you get the chance, watch the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley about the early days of Apple and the rise of Microsoft. It is one crazy story :)

I can understand having an iPod and an iPhone, because you can hold a LOT more music on an iPod.

You can hold a lot of music on an Iphone too ;)

Of course in my phone I can hold as much as I want thanks to it having a microsd card for memory instead of internal. ;)

I don't mind the iPhone, but I went with a DROID. Love it. It gets a little wonky here and there, but I just remember Roy from The IT Crowd suggests.

Turn it off and on again.

Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

The era of competition between the AFL and NFL was endlessly entertaining, like 19th century robber barons. Davis signed Fred Biletnikoff, live on TV, after whatever bowl game he appeared in. It was common practice for the NFL to assign "handlers" to top draft choices to keep them away from guys like Davis. For instance, the NFL assigned Illinois legend Buddy Young to protect Gale Sayers from the new league. Literally keep him hidden in a motel somewhere until his contract was signed.

He had a great football mind and an eye for talent that has rarely been equaled. Unfortunately, you can't fire the owner, and the Raiders' greatest strength ultimately became their greatest weakness. Nevertheless, this is a guy who deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with George Halas, Curly Lambeau and the other founders of the NFL.

The Radiers now have their best chance at winning the Super Bowl in nearly 30 years.
Davis did something I didn't think was possible. He made me feel sorry for Raiders fans.

Rest in peace, Al.

Actor Charles Napier. "You're gonna look pretty funny trying to eat corn on the cob with no effin teeth."

"Welcome to Memphis Dr. Lecter, I'm Lieutenant Boyle, this is Sergeant Patrick. Now we'll treat you as good as you treat us, you be a gentleman and you'll get three hots and a cot."
