Re: Bring Out Your Dead (Part Whatever v2.0)

I think she's too proud.

Either way, Zsa Zsa is indeed the new Rasputin.

Most of those guys trying to kill Rasputin were nancy boys. I think her husband, the "prince", is far worse and far more dangerous.

Honestly, in a nutshell (thanks, Wiki):

In 2002, Gabor was a passenger in an automobile crash, partially paralyzed, and was hospitalized for several weeks. In 2005, she suffered a stroke, underwent surgery to remove an arterial blockage, and returned home a few weeks later. In 2007, she had surgery related to her previous stroke, and then underwent surgery to treat an infection.[27]

In July 2010, Gabor was taken to the hospital after she fell at home,[28] requiring hip replacement.[29][30] She was discharged from the hospital but soon returned, and was in critical condition after the removal of two blood clots,[31] at which point she requested last rites.[32][33][34]

On August 16, 2010, she left the hospital, but was in and out of the hospital for several months thereafter.[35][36][37] She was hospitalized again on January 2, 2011, and was erroneously reported to be close to death, reports denied and decried by her publicist Edward Lozzi who claimed that the reports were being disseminated by an "unreliable source". [1] She was eventually scheduled to have a portion of her right leg amputated below the knee after cancerous lesions were discovered by her doctors.[38] Gabor's leg was subsequently amputated above the knee on January 14, 2011.[39] On Tuesday, February 1, 2011, Gabor was transported by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center due to internal bleeding.[40] On March 2, 2011 Gabor returned to the hospital for a restricted blood flow in her left leg.

She won't die. Period. Now, I'm not WISHING for her death or anything, but jeebus, it's gotta be pride driving her.

Wes Leonard, 16 years old. Had the game winning shot to clinch his basketball team's perfect season and then collapsed.

Mein Gott It's so tough whenever a high achieving young person dies. Especially in a small town where he's the QB of the football team and the guy who puts the finish on their undefeated season. The circumstances here are so awful, dying literally moments after hitting the winning shot, it's just hard to comprehend. And certainly enough to challenge the faith of all but the most faithful. Here's hoping the young man's family, friends, teammates and all the folks in that town can come together and overcome this devastating blow. Tears in my eyes as I write this. So sad. Words are totally inadequate. God bless.

Point taken. She's a tough old gal all right. I still say those guys who tried to kill Rasputin were sister boys.

Sometimes new and improved really does not match up to the original brand. I have performed thousands of these procedures in my career and honestly I don't feel they compare well to the best of the originals.
agree--They feel like clumpy, stiff, superballs stuck under a thick layer of skin. Sometimes they have wrinkles in the plastic (or whatever it is) that shift. Really weird to palpate. They look like overinflated flesh colored balloons. Under a garment, hidden is one thing, Any view of it that you can see a lot - YICK

All true. But aren't these things strictly in the category of "look but don't touch?" So even if they fail to measure up to the real deals, so what? They're an anatomical Potempkin Village.

Anything bigger than a handful, you're risking a sprained tongue.

Exactly-while clothed, they look wonderful. Even from a distance they look great. But they still fail the crucial 'feels like the real thing' test. And most develop hard fibrous capsules that make them look and feel like someone stuck half a grapefruit on a flat board. I would never criticize someone for going through the procedure and if this is what they need to improve their self image-fine. But i have always prepared my patients with the truth about the aesthetics and have talked more young women out of them rather than have them be dissatisfied with the results. Often times though, it is not the young woman who even wants them. It is the overbearing boyfriend or husband who insists she have them done.

Many understand this fact-but some do not-they expect these to not only look like perfection, but to feel like normal also and that is just ot the case.

Worse when the capsule on one side is not the same on the other. We have a plastics guy around here that tells his pts that as long as they do the correct massage thing after surgery they will feel real. The patients tell me it is their fault because they didn't do what they should. On the really slender gals they look just ludacris. THey don't move well, really looks like a Mr Potatoe head add on to the front of the chest once the shirt is off.

You could not be more right. Often times things end up uneven. Patients often feel it is their fault because they did not dfo the exercises correctly. My truly rewarding results are in breast reconstructions after mastectomy. That had always been the majority of my cases. In those cases the results were far more acceptable.

I would imagine that they are also happy to have a breast rather than trying to have more than what they did already.

Your post reminded me of one of my favorite poems:
To An Athlete Dying Young by AE Housman said:
THE time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.

To-day, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.

Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.

Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears:

Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.

So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.

And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's.
