Well, unless we're planning some trade of Hart (or really think Braun won't win the appeal), the Brewers have won the rights to an outfielder.

Or are they bringing him in just to be a late game left handed bat?

*reading more into it* Could this just be an insurance policy in case the appeal doesn't work? They won't decide until he's in Arizona if they want to sign him or not.

They won't decide until he does a tryout in Arizona because they don't normally scout Japan and it would be silly to just sign him without knowing how strong his arm is. I could see him being the CF, a sub for Hart doesn't seem realistic with what I've read on his arm. Protection for Braun's possible suspension is very likely but the 30 window will likely close before Braun's appeal is likely to be figured out. Maybe they will trade Hart, Gomez or Morgan. Honestly, having another lefty in the lineup would be nice now that Prince is gone.

Betancourt is returning to Kansas City to back up Alcides Escobar. That leaves one infielder from last year (not necesarily a bad thing).

Yuni got a lot of criticism (and deserved most of it), but he had some huge hits in the playoffs.

Joe Block will be Uecker's sidekick. Come on, that can't be his real name. :p

46 days until pitchers and catchers report.

I think the Big Fella is going to sign soon - there's been a few things in the paper recently, after a lot of silence.

Is T Plush under contract?

Not yet. But he was eligible for arbitration and they tendered his contract - so he will be back, but I don't think they have worked out a contract yet.

That Japanese dude they are looking at is a very intriging option, I love guys who hit for a great average like him. Could he play in the OF in Hart's place - move Hart to 1st?

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Haven't looked at the website to confirm, but T-Plush posted to Facebook that he is returning for a second year with Milwaukee. And Jim Powell re-tweeted someone saying that Craig Counsell has hung up the cleats after 15 MLB seasons and accepted a front office job with the Brewers.

I believe Nishioka for the Twins won a batting title in Japan. How's that worked out so far? :(

Pitchers and catchers report one month from today. :D

Aoki signed a two year deal with "lots of incentives".

In addition to Plush, K-Rod ($8) and Loe ($2.175) agreed to one-year deals, avoiding arbitration.

Marcum and Jose Veras are set to go to arbitration.

Still need bullpen help.

Ryan Braun is accepting his MVP award on Saturday.

Congrats to Prince and thanks for the memories.

Just glad he went to the AL and not the Cubs or Cards.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

I'm really going to miss the Big Fella. Few players have as much enthusiasm for the game and his teammates and it was fun to watch every day. He'll always be one of my favorites. Please keep making Albert angry in the AL. :D

Favorite Prince memory? Tough call. The bowling pin walk-off. Home run #50. The walk-off against the Pirates in the last week of 2008. Either of his inside-the-parkers. ;) I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot.

... but I'm glad we didn't sacrifice the rest of the team and spend $200+ million on him.

Anyone else find it interesting that Prince would go off to play in Detroit and face the inevitable slew of questions about ans comparison to his dad. Hasn't there been a rocky relationship there?

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

There has been for a while, with plenty of rumors, speculation, and other things, ranging from Cecil's alleged gambling issues, and his divorce from Prince's mother, which apparently got really nasty as well. I think either Prince or Cecil have recently said that the relationship has thawed a bit, but we'll see.

Never in a million years did I think the Tigers were going to go and do something like this.
