re: Braun. What I don't like is that this stuff is released by the media before it's official. If he ends up innocent, he's still guilty in the media and public eye. :(

You mean how he tested positive back in september or october and it's just coming to light now? You're right, the media really jumped the gun on that one...

Given the possibility, however unlikely, that Braun's appeal is successful... yes, they did.

If it's not official and he is not suspended, then its too soon. Regardless of when the actual test was.

He is now permanently guilty by association regardless of the outcome due to this.

Especially considering that it wasn't a performance enhancing drug that was flagged, it was just a banned substance that was caught by the PED test. But, to the mainstream media, it's "ROIDS!"

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

New theory being floated: he has some sort of STD, whatever he was using to treat it caused the positive test.

That's along the lines of what my wife came up with. NMUKat really doesn't like the Brewers, but her first question about the whole situation was "is Braun and his significant other trying to have a kid? Does he have performance anxiety when away from large crowds?"

Hilarious if the media jumped on this one... can't wait to see ESPN retract this story. :D

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Casey McGehee noted this is the second time he's lost his job to Aramis Ramirez - first with the Cubs, and then with the Brewers. I'm not a huge Ramirez fan, but it's a pretty big upgrade at third if he's healthy. Does this mean first is definitely Gamel's? I can't see them making another big move, but who knows?

Still need more bullpen help.

Seems like there is very little chatter about Prince. When Pujols was getting offers, we heard a lot more. Boras probably doesn't want to show his hand, but it seems a little odd that we haven't heard anything solid.

I heard gamel will get first crack at first base but if he faulters, Taylor Green is next in line now that he is blocked by Ramirez.

oh man, I completely forgot about Green. I really liked him. Not that I want Gamel to fail.... but I'd rather see Green (I have no idea how much experience he has at first). I guess Gamel deserves a shot (even though he's had a few already).

So, let's just say that you can have it come out that the positive test result was due to a treatment for herpes...

-OR-

...you can just take a 50 game suspension for using a ped.

Which do you choose?

I'm sittin' out fiddy if it's me... ;)

Saito signed with Arizona. Another guy to replace in the bullpen.

I'm surprised that Prince Fielder still hasn't found his new home.
I'm kinda not. A lot of teams have been soured by Boras clients, and don't want to deal with him (White Sox brag about that). I think the Braun case also helped throw a little water on whatever fire Boras was trying to light.

Which... concerns me. Are the Brewers "stuck" with picking back up Fielder if he can't get the deal he wants? Casual fans would really question the leadership of the Brewers if come April 2nd, Prince hasn't been to ANY training camp, and the Brewers are without him. But the Brewers did what they did planning for NOT having Prince.

Why not stretch the budget for him if he takes 6 years $120mil? I know Ramirez hurts things but why not "go for it?" I don't see it happening, I'm sure he'll get more than that the question is where does the number fall between 6 years/$120 mil and 10 years $254 mil. And how slowly does Boras' number drop from the high end to whatever someone is willing to pay.

That can easily be determined simply by looking at the calendar. If it's December or January, Boras ain't budging. If the calendar turns to February, his clients will get in awfully quick with somewhat reasonable deals. The problem is, most of his clients don't get that far without getting signed.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Everything I've read and heard says that the Brewers have moved on and can no longer afford him, even at 20 mil/year.

The other moves they made and K-rod accepting arbitration shut that door.
