Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

Does anyone else find the idea of a hockey selection show ridiculous?

It makes sense in hoops because, for better and worse, there's always a ton of uncertainty.

But what do you expect for hockey? "Now we go to Oxford, Ohio, where the Redhawks have *just* learned that they'll be in this years' tournament"

A better format would be to geek it up: present the entire bracket at once, then have a bunch of Jason Moy-types talking about what we might be able to infer (regarding the few issues that are still controversial) from the committee's bracket.
I will watch. They really struggle to drag it out to 30 minutes. Usually eastern analysts talking about the eastern teams and how they are superior. ;) It should be a BC lovefest this year. They will pick who they think will come out of the regions. It is usually the #1 seeds.

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

Well, it should be a BC lovefest this year.

I just think it's funny that there will be more interesting commentary on this thread in 3 minutes than there will be on ESPNU in 30.

Just give us the results, and let us get started. :)

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

Whether the selection of the 16 teams is a foregone conclusion or not and the only question is where they're going to be placed, what I want to know is what percentage of TV viewers actually have ESPNU? For that matter, what percentage of college hockey fans subscribe to ESPNU? The selection used to be on ESPN2 didn't it? Finally, are all the games that will be televised on ESPNU also going to be streamed on ESPN3 (or whatever they're calling it now)?

ESPNU is on like 2/3 of the TV's as ESPN/ESPN2. Dunno what % of that is "basic" cable like the top two channels, though.

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

4 minutes in and Barry Melrose already needs to be hit with a shovel.

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

Well this show is off to a great start. Technical difficulties. Brett Hull did not go to North Dakota. Only 6 minutes in!

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

Good grief, ESPN. Have we ever produced a television show before, guys?

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

Duluth drops out of a #1 seed by losing to DU, and their reward is to open with Maine out east and with the winner likely facing BC in the 2nd round. Oof. This assures us that BU will be in St. Paul, I guess.

And we already have technical difficulties! Awesome! :p

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

They went with proximity, not bracket integrity.

Michigan in Green Bay, so UND will get the St. Paul regional. Lovely.

In that case, BU could still land in Bridgeport. It's either them or UML. All the 2 seeds are "western," so no conference conflicts.
