Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

I thought they'd go with North Dakota-Western Michigan in Green Bay and Michigan-Cornell in St. Paul for bracket integrity reasons. I also think a GB regional of UND, Miami, Denver and WMU would have done reasonably well. Oh well.

I didn't have a clear-cut idea of where Michigan would go other than either GB or SP. GB "looks" easier but I have friends who live in SP. Heck, one works right across the street from the X, and another lives 2 blocks from there. Oh well, the SP bracket would have been a killer anyway.

I don't know how this compares to last year or even other years, but the committee showed a balance between placing the #1 seeds closest to home, bracket integrity and attendance concerns. Is that what everyone wants?

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

No, I'm thinking 2008. I thought they all stayed for the 07-08 season because of "unfinished business" from 2007? They were using the 2007 loss as motivation and they wound up in the same game the very next year and gave one of the worst semi final performances I can recall seeing. I thought Hakstol should have been fired after that game. How did they lay such an egg in that game??

Oshie came back after 2007, but Toews left for Chicago. Duncan was never really a threat to leave. Taylor Chorney also decided to come back for his Junior year, but again, I never thought of Chorney as a serious threat to leave. The "pact" was mostly important because it meant that Oshie was coming back for his Junior year when everyone thought he would leave after '07.

As for the 2008 game, I don't seem to remember there being a Frozen Four in '08? I seem to recall that North Dakota won the regional, and then the season just ended. :p:D:D

Re: Bracketology II: Electric Boogaloo

I REALLY like our chances coming out of Bridgeport.
The homer in me agrees but PC found a way to neutralize us. We're also still pretty young so kind of a coin toss on how we come out of the gate. I think the region is totally up for grabs and if we can beat Miami, and do so decisively, I think we can also then win the region.

Hopefully the weekend off from Boston (thanks? PC) allowed them to rest and get healthy. I don't know if we're the only team that didn't play this past weekend, but bet there wasn't more than one other. It might be a nice bonus in the long run.

Too many variables; I'm just resting my voice for Friday evening since that's the only thing I can control. :D
