BouncyBall 2013/2014

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

I would be more impressed if he was forced to sell because a man who is successful enough to own a professional sports franchise should know not to lowercase everything.

It was on an iPad. And I know for a fact that some programs and internet sites aren't "compatible" with iOS in that they don't automatically capitalize and punctuate with the normal keyboard shortcuts. :)

USA beat Serbia yesterday in the FIBA World Championships gold medal game. Forgot the score, but at least in bouncy ball, we're world champions. Now for the Olympics...

I checked it out yesterday, the US was up by 40, over 100, and it was the 3rd quarter.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Darko Milicic retires to become a kickboxer.

In the 2003 draft, Pistons could have had Carmelo Anthony; that draft was loaded. Instead, we ended up with him. All he was noted for in his Pistons career was being Larry Brown's victory cigar. Pistons were up by 20 late in the game? In went Darko.

To be fair, EVERY expert and mock draft out there was calling Darko at #2 and Carmelo at #3. So we weren't exactly alone in being fooled at the time.

Imagine re-doing that draft with what we know today. Does Darko even go first round?

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

Yeah I hate the revisionist history on that. The Pistons were fine at guard, and it's not like Melo was going to play anyway, because Brown wasn't too keen on playing rookies. Would it have helped in later years? Sure. But EVERYONE bought into the Darko hype.

I knew Larry Brown wasn't going to play him often. But everyone also expected Darko to get more playing time with Flip Saunders, and that didn't happen either. It wasn't until Darko left the Pistons that he saw any significant playing time in the league.

Re: BouncyBall 2013/2014

If the Pistons draft anyone other than Darko at #2, the Rasheed Wallace trade very very likely does not happen the following spring. Without that trade, the Pistons do not demolish the Lakers in the '04 Finals, because they don't even get close to the Finals. Lots of people seem to gloss over that.
