Re: Boston Universtiy 2011-2012 Part IV: Dont stop fighting til the fight is done!

Another tidbit that hasn't been discussed: Chiasson had three golden opportunities to score goals and couldn't come up with the quality shot to get it done. One in the 1st really stung. Lots of net to shoot at he fired it right into Milner's belly.

Connolly's shot in the first 15 seconds of OT could've won it. Milner was very alert on the play. Nieto was setup by Connolly just outside of the crease to Milner's left for another solid opportunity. Again, was Milner was in position to limit available net. Nieto's shot went off Milner's shoulder and over the net.

Chiasson's biggest missed opportunity by far was the crossing pass in OT that got on his stick, he had a step on the BC defender so there was no interference from that, but his tip went either just wide or over the net, I couldn't tell which, but Milner was nowhere near it, and Chiasson had a WIDE open net three feet in front of him. Granted, he didn't have time to corral it, and his stick was a bit outstretched, but it's a fairly high percentage play if the puck cleanly gets to the stick in position, which it did. I can only imagine how many times that play went through his head after the game.

Yep... best chance of the game that wasn't put in the net by either team I think... when I saw it developing my heart sank. I expected that to end it.

It went just wide. If Chiasson either takes a slightly wider angle towards the far post, or drives to the net a split second earlier (he stretched to redirect the puck) and makes better contact w/ the puck, better chance he tips the puck into an open net, as Milner was already committed to playing the puck carrier (Ruikka) thinking he was shooting.

Something for him to work on as both goals were off him getting beat post to post/overplaying the shot. I didn't really have a problem with either of the goals from a BC fan's perspective, nice offensive plays.

He was certainly better than the other 3 times he faced you guys.

I've said this for a while now...he's athletic, but his anticipation isn't a strength.

He looked much improved and very solid when facing up to the shooter and taking the shot straight on. It was when you got him moving around that he looked like he was struggling and having trouble covering ground, as evidenced by both goals coming from one-timers, and many more close misses coming from similar plays.

Even saying all that, the biggest thing was he didn't let in any "bad" goals IMO. If he can keep that up, don't see why BC can't at least compete with any team out there.

Think we will see the lines mixed up for this weekend? I'm guessing we will see Cisse?

Suddenly, or not so suddenly, home and home with Lowell is the biggest weekend of the season so far. Imagine a few years ago games with Mac and UML having so much significance? Love it.
Does anyone know what non-conference games (excluding Beanpot) BU has lined up next year?

and the weird thing was , his stats were great but you just knew the softie was coming at the worst possible time

Brett Bennett and Jason Tapp were.

Just sayin.

again.. real hockey teams. (and i'd take tapper over matti. y'all had tapper and you'd have two, maybe three additional titles. hell, if you had a garbage can you'd have one more)

Ahem..... You seen any NU games recently?

There have been many goalies come through Hockey East worse than Matti. Now, if you wanna say Matti can't compare to Clemmensen, Schneider and Muse...well, obviously! ;)

That being said, his SP got better each year and he had a .921 as a senior. Didn't leave with a lot of hardware though...I believe just a Beanpot in which he didn't have to do much of anything. Did play pretty well after giving up a bizarre goal to Michigan in Manchester--and into the FF. Was having a darn good senior year, but York went with Schneider in game two of the HE QFs and never looked back.

It was cold and scary on page 2...
