Calm down, man, and enjoy the rest of the season! He hasn't even actually made the announcement yet!!![]()
Got it. I read it as house around Boston somewhere to take over.
Phew.
This should be a very interesting process.
you been thinking buddy living in warren towers during the season?

Exactly. All I could come up with for "BG" was "Buildings and Grounds."![]()
Now I know how those people in Eastern Europe felt in November of 1989.
Seriously though, coach Parker thanks for everything over a great career. Yes it was long past the time to go but now we can reflect on the career as a whole instead of the last dozen years. I find the timing to be very curious. Not sure what's up with that but I guess it'll all come out eventually.

I'm stunned but elated. While I and others have wanted this for some time now, in a weird way, I never thought I'd see the day.
Most importantly, for me, it stops Parker from falling to a respect level that would overtake his legacy. The man has done more for BU Hockey than anyone else, and the positives will outweigh the negatives when all is said and done. Close followers will always know that he probably hung on too long, but the off-ice issues that got most of the press the last couple years will mot be lasting memories.
I wrote on here a long time that it wouldn't surprise me if he announced his retirement at the end of the regular season. Very few believed it.
He is smart enough to see the hand writing on the boards. The motivation wasn't the same, players were leaving or getting bounced, and we started to see more and more empty seats at Agganis. It is a good time to make a smart decision, and let's give him credit for doing just that.
As poor as many have complained that this season has been, we finished two points out of first place. Two points!
So while the program has not been where people would like it to be, it also hasn't been that bad. And as I have written before, eight other Hockey East schools would gladly have traded for our success over the past decade, even though it pales in comparison to where BU was in the 1960s, 70s and 90s.
David Quinn. Mike Sullivan. John Hynes.
Anyone other than one of those three would come as a shock.
Unless Mike Lynch "pulls a Peter Roby" and hires Mike Eruzione out of the Development Office, and hands him the keys with no head coaching experience.
Brian Durocher? He's doing a great job with the women, and I'd expect him to stay right there.
I hope it is Sullivan. Quinn would be a very close second for me. Hynes would not be disappointing either. But anyone else would be to me.
I think Sullivan would be an ideal college coach, especially at BU. He played 4 years at BU (my four years, incidentally), which included a generally disappointing freshman season (pre-season#1, barely finished over .500) two lean years, and a return to glory and the FF as a senior. He just about saw it all during those 4 years. I think he would be a very convincing recruiter - his time in the NHL as a defensive forward continues the BU tradition of developing strong 2-way players - and being a one-time coach of the hometown NHL team doesn't hurt when recruiting locally. Parker called him the best captain he ever had at the time, and short of Gilroy, I can't think of anyone since that would change that statement.
so the timing....
wouldn't it be beneficial to have someone on the thrown almost immediately? i don't want to see any kids in the pipe for sept2013 to have 2nd thoughts and listen to coaches making calls tuesday or wednesday.
i would imagine sullivan or quinn - as current assts - would be in a position to parachute out soon.
the most important thing tomorrow is the dance lynch and brownie will be making over the process.
I don't think the timing is surprising. He anyways said he would not do a farewell tour. I figure it was one of two things that finally made this happen. Either the school told him he had to step down based on the findings of the task force, but they gave him one more year to make it less obvious. Or, the stretch of games in January and February made him realize he just doesn't have it anymore. Second fourth-place finish in the Beanpot in three years. With both those losses being the second time BU lost to those teams which were both pretty terrible teams that couldn't beat anyone else. Throw in the Myron leaving, Coyle blossoming, and it may have finally clicked.
