No. Because if we don't get to the championship game, our Pairwise will be too low. Remember that there are automatic bids for league champions, so you have to really be about 12th in the PWR to be "certain." For example, Quinnipiac is going but if they lose their league tournament then some team from outside the top 16 will get in. Let's suppose Maine gets hot and wins the tourney - they're not in the top 16 either. There's two spots that top 16 teams won't get (i.e. 2 of the top 16 will be out). So we won't get there via any other route unless something really strange happens. We've forfeited the right to do that. Too many bad losses...now it's time to just win or go home.

Well, if Qpac doesn't win the ECAC, there are atleast 2 other teams in the top 16 who could, and another couple right outside the bubble, who may be in top 16 if they make a deep run. Your point is still correct in that there may be a couple below 16 who win their league autobid, however I'm guessing the ECAC auto will be in the top 16.

I understand what you're saying. But this is the exact same talk that went on last year. We get this attitude that "Well, we can still make it" and that takes away from the focus of WINNING. I know everyone will say "But it's not US playing the games, we're just discussing it." Except that if we're thinking that way the team probably is too. And given that there never seems to be a sense of urgency with this team, I don't like that thought. Forget the PWR and JUST WIN tonight and let the chips fall where they may. "Maybe" we could still get in, but I doubt it (and I doubt that it's around 50% either). The way to INSURE that we get in is to win. Another problem is even if we win the quarterfinal series we always seem to take three games, and that one loss is very damaging in the PWR as well.. At this point, if we win four in a row starting tonight we are probably in.

A BU graduate wearing a UNH jersey and sitting front row at the Whitt...uh huh. Not sure what the appropriate penalty is, but I'm sure you'll think of something.

Unless I'm missing something, you guys finish 3rd and play Merrimack. I know NESN reported UNH clinched home ice, but unless I'm misunderstanding the tiebreakers, I have UNH in 5th.

I believe you are correct. Bernie said "Providence goes to UNH" but I don't see how that's possible, because head-to-head Providence beat UNH in the season series. But this doesn't change the matchup...just where they play.

Bernie is wrong...we get MC by virtue of winning the three way tb with PC and NH. From there we get #3 and it goes to H2H between PC and NH. PC wins that and hosts NH. Thanks Todd.

Well, apparently I'm wrong. HockeyEastOnline.com just posted the "final" standings and they have UNH in 4th and Providence 5th. Someone is going to have to explain how that can be when Providence wins the head-to-head vs UNH.

PC is listed 4th. BTW, other than getting an easier path to the Garden, apparently beating MC won't help you guys in the PWR.

It was UNH then PC at first. Then I reloaded and they'd reversed it. Even the front office had trouble figuring out this season's finish.

Game 1 will be at UNH. Game 2 at PC. If game 3 is necessary, game will be held somewhere in MA...maybe WBA.

I believe they initially had it wrong but since fixed it. It is now showing PC in 4th, UHN in 5th.
