Re: Boston University Part IV: Off-Season or New Season?
I certainly hear you on this one. A game like Sunday night or losing the Beanpot would eat at me when I was quite a bit younger but now it's just a part of my life (albeit important to me) that allows me diversion from the day to day work related world which can be for me as I am sure others very stressful.
Hockey Season has always been my bridge to get me through winter going back to the early 60's at the Boston Arena watching the GBI. Obviously it's more fun when you are winning.
I may have said this once before but I feel like I am back in Jr. High watching the Terriers under Jack Kelley trying to become relevant in a town where BC/Harvard was on top. 8 years later we won it all in Syracuse and followed it up with a second one in the Garden.
Speaking of Syracuse, Sunday March 20th will be the 40th anniversary of that win. RIP: Guy Burrowes, Saul Weiss, Ric Jordan, Tony Dougal and Carl James. Gone but never forgotten.
Bingo!
I have seen BU win its NC's, ECAC Titles, HE Titles, etc. There is a sense that they've provided me with plenty of excitement, thrills and so on that makes me reluctant to criticize JP. However, as an older fellow, I just can't take it as seriously as I did. Ultimately, it's entertainment and a diversion from the cold, dark, wet winter. As far as this past season, I was entertained, even taking the wretched power play into account. For that matter, I've found every BU season to be entertaining with the exception of 2006-7 when scoring, and even scoring opportunities, were down all over college hockey. Perhaps, I'm too easily satisfied.
Now, Corey Trivino? That's another matter.
