Great move by Chambers to have his Philly-centric freshmen class--as well as a few of the now-eligible transfers--perform in the City of Brotherly Love and Cheesesteaks. It should help keep the pipeline going.

Matt Nieto is #4 on The Hockey News' "Hot List" from NHL RDO camp.

4. Matt Nieto, LW – U.S. NTDP (USHL)
Talk to California kids and they’ll all name-drop Nieto as one to watch in the future. Based on his work at the R&D camp, it’s no surprise. Nieto is a very slick customer with speed and offensive smarts. He played on a line with fellow Cali export Shane McColgan and was dangerous all game long. He’s bound for Boston University. Draft eligible in 2011.

Many thanks to BU for switching exhibition dates with BC for the Toronto games. Originally BC was to play them on Saturday October 2 but that was the Notre Dame Football game so it was a conflict for BC. Now the schedules are corrected to show Toronto at BU on Saturday and at BC on Sunday. Also the Swedish site lists the BU game as November 1 now instead of the original date of November 3. Wonder if that is on again or if the travel dates originally listed between Nov. 2 and 6 prevent that.

I thought it was always on October 2nd. Haven't seen any schedule that showed it any date other than the 2nd.

So are we just going right to the season thread once this kicks the bucket? Seems like it would be a waste to start another offseason thread.

There's still another entire month before the season starts. I think we could squeeze in another off-season thread as anticipation builds, but considering we haven't filled 5 pages in the last month maybe a season thread is a better idea.

How about a "preseason" thread?

John Simpson, former BU Hockey manager, BU Football player, BU Athletic Director, and member of the BU Athletic Hall of Fame--and good guy--passed away yesterday. He was a native of Brookline and a combat Marine in World War II. His son Steve skated for BU from 1979-1981. More details later on the blog.
