David Warsofsky, acquired from St. Louis for Vladimir Sobotka on Saturday, will participate in his first camp as a Bruin. Warsofsky, who said he weighs 170-172 pounds, could use some more bulk before he turns pro. So the Marshfield native, who will be a junior at Boston University in the fall, undoubtedly will become familiar with strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides during next week’s camp.
“I consider myself more of an offensive defenseman, but being at BU and working with [strength and conditioning coach] Mike Boyle, I’ve been trying to get a lot stronger,’’ said Warsofsky. “I know a lot of people kind of question my defensive ability. So I take that, put it in my back pocket, and try to work with that as much as I can. I think offense comes more naturally to me than defense, so I’ve been trying to work on my defensive ability, get stronger, and work on my overall game.’’
Warsofsky most likely will spend one more season at BU, then turn pro. He projects to be a power-play specialist in the NHL.
