Nice Bob Hohler hatchet job in the Globe this morning. Never mind the headline for the story isn't even true.
They seem to have a nice stock picture of Roberto pretending to eat out of the Piszpot.
Has no one noticed that this buffoon is out there wearing a GoPro on his head while celebrating? As far as I'm concerned this is worse than gambling.
Rover, you need to update your gambling jokes now!

Finally catching up on all of this…. what a dumbass move by the player(s?) involved. At least when I competed, it was made pretty clear to the student athletes that gambling was a serious no-no and would be met with serious consequences. I'd assume the same info was given to them. We can debate the wisdom of the NCAA gambling rules, and bookies vs fantasy sports etc. But for now those are the rules and the athletes know it. You have to be either too dumb, think you are above the law, or just not care to do it.
That being said, while it is a serious rules violation, I don't see how it seriously hurts BU and / or college hockey in general (unless there are more angles to the story yet to come out).
Hoky,
Is it even BU's place to comment now on "the other two" since they are no longer enrolled in school and playing elsewhere?
Hohler is absolutely brutally bad. He is on the level of a Freep writer.
Although I didn't find anything wrong with today's article, very minimal stuff in it (and contributed by some BU folks' idol Fluto)
Chiming in as a neutral observer. This rules violation, just a few years after the "sex scandal" is something that other schools will recruit against. The mantra will be lack of institutional control. I'm sure that BU folks thought they were over this after Parker retired, but the fact that the sort of gambling implied in the CHN article was going on, will lead some believe that Quinn is not overseeing things as he should. Whether that is right or wrong, only Quinn can refute it. And not with words, but actions.

Bringing up the sexual assault allegations from 4 years ago (wrongly stated as 3 years in the Globe) is a low blow since none of the players, coaching staff (except the volunteer goaltending coach), nor AD were here during that time. Totally unrelated to the story.

Still curious about whether or not BU technically used an ineligible player(s) if this gambling has been confirmed as during last season. The NCAA loves going back when they catch you and taking away wins. Don't care about the outcome either way but the decision itself is something i'm curious about. I am certainly not lobbying for retroactive team/program punishment.

I don't know if ineligible is the right word? I don't know the official terminology but if a player was caught gambling, they would be suspended, as Roberto was. They weren't ineligible when it happened. They were a student in good standing (enrolled, proper grades, etc). They would be punished for doing something wrong moving forward. I think. I don't know. Just my thoughts.....
