Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

She leaves a little wiggle room but not that much depending on how you define debauchery.

There isn't much connecting the dots that needs to be done. You all think this is journalistic sensationalism. It's not. The girl has the report in her hands and she's not an idiot. She isn't lying, making stuff up, or trying to create a story out of nothing. Multiple people had very consistent accounts when reporting to the subcommittee. Believe what you want to believe (or ask the young lady). If there is any doubt, you're in the tinfoil hat group trying to figure out who is conspiring against the program and went to the subcommittee and lied to them.

Thank you for confirming that this is not journalistic sensationalism, I was worried we would have to make this decision ourselves with some sort of other information to back it up. Thank you also for confirming that this girl is not an idiot and that she is not lying or making stuff up, I'm glad someone here knows this for a fact and can set us all straight. I just don't understand why people would ever question anything they've read in a paper. Also, I couldn't find the correct definition of debauched online (as none of them specify sex), you should post the correct definition so people can't pretend that debauchery could refer to any perceived immoral behavior like drinking beer or using inappropriate language or something.

And we don't even have to believe she was lying or an idiot...only that she took 2+2 and got 5...not way off the mark, but she added to the equation. When she talks about 34 people being interviewed and then goes into the 'several people interviewed..." line of reasoning. Think that is by accident, think she wasn't trying to tie the word several to the number 34 as it gives greater weight to the sentence?

When she says many of the allegations were corroborated by multiple people and then jumps right into the party and then says several people described the party. What she doesn't say is whether the describers were actually there, whether that was one of the events corroborated (which is far different than "I heard"). It may be the documents weren't clear who was there and who saw what...but her article was sure clear...if not in actual wording (she seems to be carefully walking the tightrope of "I never actually typed that" then she filled in the gaps.

Anybody that reads the Freeh report and then the alum response to it can see how things can be connected together to make or break a story and how after the fact it can be easy to see why the Duke lacrosse players were guilty, then innocent. Why the Trayvon Martin thing swings back and forth depending on which article you read. Why taxes on the rich or teacher's strikes can sound like the best solution or the worst solution depending on who is writing the story.

In this case, it appears the writer wanted to make 2+2=5. If I wrote it I would want to make 2+2=0

Difference is, one of us is supposed to be unbiased. I don't think her bias was against BU, but was towards making the story more sensational and more dramatic...a bias towards what she gets rewarded for, clicks and comments.

NPR Story today on WBUR:

http://onlyagame.wbur.org/2012/09/15/boston-university-hockey-culture

So...remind me where there was evidence of group sex? It seems like every negative story or stereotype about hockey players is also being attributed to BU, regardless or the evidence

I think someone told a story about it to the task force but it wasn't printed because they weren't able to confirm it to be true? I honestly have forgot at this point what was in the task force report and what the Globe printed.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Title of an email I received this afteroon from the Agganis Arena Advantage Club:

"Historic BU celebration. Tickets on sale now."

You can't make this stuff up.

I love how all you BU dolts are propping up Colby Cohen to be some paragon of integrity. Why is that? Oh yeah, it's because JackPa paid him to come to his defense in the Andrew Glass scandal. Good to see the checks are still coming in.

You need not look all the way up Comm Ave to Chestnut Hill for a benchmark on how a successful hockey program should be run. Look no further than WBA. In seven seasons the BU Women's hockey program has had exactly zero -- as in none, nada -- instances of player misconduct off the ice. Statistically, that program is at greater risk of under age drinking violations since the players are comparatively younger and a higher proportion of the team is under 21.

A program reflects its coach. Period.

My Agganis season tickets are long gone, as is my Club Room membership and parking spot under the rink. I still wear BU gear in public, but only if the word "Womens" appears in between BU and Hockey.

Just give us a Men's program we can be proud of. Is that too much to ask? It's been decades now... enough is enough.

The lady Terriers actually had significantly more alcohol violations than the men did over the past 3 years. They are definitely a great group of girls and I am proud they represent our school, but the world is never just black and white.

Can't say enough good things about Lady Terriers' coach Brian Durocher who also was an assistant to Parker. Thankfully he chose to overlook Marie-Philip Poulin's rowdy history when he recruited her. ;):D

Double reply, I apologize.

So you're claiming you gave the program thousands of dollars a year this past decade, yet haven't been proud of them for multiple decades? At least one of your claims must be false, I think it is more likely that they both are.

Oh, there have been player misconducts. But they haven't been picked up publicly, mainly because the women's ice hockey program is probably the number-four winter program.

Not to mention that time a bunch of them groped mookie at T's. Of course, he didn't file any complaints....
