Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

“I’ve got the best coach in Coach (Jack) Parker ”

Yikes.

Anyway, let's say it's Grzelcyk and not Kurker. What is BU's defense going to look like? Would they have to accelerate another recruit? Who is definitely returning on defense?

Noonan
Privitera
Escobedo
MacGregor
Ruikka?

Rosen/Moscatel are both listed as F/D so maybe they can move back.

Grzelcyk leaving would make an already sketchy looking defense beyond terrible and leave BU rather short on bodies back there in the event of an injury or two.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

They still have Clendening's scholarship to fill you would think. I highly doubt they go into the season with 6 dmen assuming Grzelcyk isn't leaving. I would assume/hope they have a 7th defender lined up and would have Ronan as a 8th defender in case of emergencies since he has been practicing at the position since last year. I doubt Parker would move Rosen back to D unless it was his last option.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Just ran across this article from when Kurker was preparing for the NHL draft in June. The interesting quote is when he says
"Several teams who liked Kurker’s size, shot and ability to score questioned the right wing to see if they selected him early in the draft if he’d forgo his committment to Boston University and instead sign a minor league contract or play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

“I told them no, that there was no better place for me at this time than BU,” said Kurker, who agreed with teams that he needs to work on his foot speed off the wall in college, which he feels will be an easy fix. “I’ve got the best coach in Coach (Jack) Parker and play in the best college league. BU is where I belong.”

After reading what Roy said about his committment to Brown one week before he changed his mind, I unfortunately can't put much stock into this.

If it is Kurker, is it too late to bring in a 2013? Ballageiron?

While BU is used to a plethora of riches when it comes to offensive defensmen (ok, maybe a little strong, but there have been many over the past few years in Gilroy, Shattenkitk, Cohen, and Warsofsky), we would still ahve two guys that can contribute offensively from the blue line in Noonan and Privitera.

Defensively, well that is another story, regardless of who is leaving. In fact, I hadn't really looked at how challenged we could be in our own end.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

If they did bring in a 2013, I would guess it would be Jarrid Privitera since he originally set to come this year but got bumped back when they moved up Kurker to this year but they could bump up anyone technically and I think they would pick that over playing another year in juniors

Imagine getting that call.....ummm, can you change your plans and be on campus in less than three weeks? Oh, and better get that BU application completed and your transcripts in right away.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

If Hokydad is right, and BU eventually loses two players ("one down..."); too bad for them this didn't go down a month ago-- when the Roy brothers were on the market.

They can't go into the season with only 6 dmen. Def always get hurt before forwards. Also Parker loves Rosen up front as center. He was born for that 3-4th line def center position. He can certainly drop back if and when needed but thats a game time decision not a season set.

Have they actually signed their LOI's with Northeastern yet? ;-)
