Boston University 2012 Offseason

Something tells me Roy wouldn't answer the call/call Parker back. That's just how some of the scum organizations up there operate.

Regardless of how I feel about it, Roy has no responsibility to bu. his job is to get the best players for his team and college kids are fair game. Bu should be telling whomever it is to go look at esposito and ask if he's better off now or if he went the us college route.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Bad example, he would've been the player he is now had he gone college or or MJ.

Also - I don't hold any grudge with Kane - he never denied he was looking at the OHL as an option. Esposito was different - his dad went so far as to question what Roy was thinking drafting his son, since he would be playing college hockey.

HAven't heard about Esposito in a while, or Werek for that matter - I'll have to see what they are up to these days...

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Werek had a pretty good OHL career and was a first year AHL player last year...19 points in 67 games. Will be interesting to see what kind of jump he makes in his 2nd full year at the AHL level.

As for Esposito, I'm pretty sure he's signed to go to Europe. He's been a bust.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

I have no inside info, but if we're guessing...I have to go back to the rumors about Kurker months ago. He'd be my guess.

Yea and Patrick Kane too!

Seriously nick?

Kane would not have been able to come to bu until jan because he didn't graduate high school yet. So going into his draft year it was either go to OHL and play a full season, or play Jan-March ( :D) at bu after playing for usndp the first semester and cram in your sr year in four months.

I forgot about that whole half year issue.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If he was at least considering leaving (which given the nature of the "he's gone" posts, is highly likely), he certainly would have been in touch with Roy. From that point on, you figure they've been putting on a full court press. I was hoping that the excitement in his tweets about getting in and being able to come this year was enough to not have to worry any more. I guess not.

Could it be one of the other freshman forward that are Q eligible or def him?

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

It could be O'Regan as well. Kurker just makes more sense if you had to pick one

Right. Given the family connection with O'Regan, I'm hopeful that such a late change of plans would be avoided if at all possible.

I can't find anything on O'Regan in QMJHL draft lists. I don't think his rights are owned by anyone. That's why I've just thrown him out of the discussions.

I would think he'll show at BU given that his dad is a former BU hockey alumnus.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Are we sure Hoky isn't just off his meds and thinks he just heard from his sources that Coyle is going MJ?

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Still waiting on the outcome from the Hockey "Task Force". The Freeh report didn't take this long. Maybe they were waiting for the Trivino charges to be dropped and then they could say, "This was all one (or two) big misunderstanding(s)."?

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Just ran across this article from when Kurker was preparing for the NHL draft in June. The interesting quote is when he says
"Several teams who liked Kurker’s size, shot and ability to score questioned the right wing to see if they selected him early in the draft if he’d forgo his committment to Boston University and instead sign a minor league contract or play in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

“I told them no, that there was no better place for me at this time than BU,” said Kurker, who agreed with teams that he needs to work on his foot speed off the wall in college, which he feels will be an easy fix. “I’ve got the best coach in Coach (Jack) Parker and play in the best college league. BU is where I belong.”
