Boston University 2011 Offseason

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

Well now everyone can start predicting the lines with a set roster in place for the coming season. I'll start it off so everyone can tell me how dumb I am...

Connolly-Coyle-Chiasson
Nieto-Trivino-Megan
Gil- Hohmann-Rodrigues
Courtnall-Rosen- Cisse

Noonan-Clendening
Privitera- NiCastro
Escobedo - Ruikka

Millan
Rollie
Moccia

I'm not set on Megan on that second line but I didn't want to assume a freshman like Rodrigues or Cisse would jump into that role to begin the season.

Blog post up. http://www.thebostonhockeyblog.com/2011/08/terriers-officially-announce-2011-12.html

There's no surprises here. 59(?) days until the first exhibition game. Must find something to talk about until then.

If Hohmann cannot evict #10 from the 2nd line center spot by 1/1, it will be a severe disappointment (at least to me).

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

Agreed. But you have to figure Parker goes with the more veteran guys on the top lines to begin the season

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

is it general consensus that gaudet is relegated back to the craig sanders memorial suite?

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

I think he certainly will have the opportunity to earn ice time on that third or fourth line but it is going to be a tough lineup to crack this year. If Cisse isn't fully recovered or another forward is injured he would be my first guy in so I don't think he is a sure thing to sit

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

BU lost to the Gophs at Walter Brown ... in the NCAA's? (BU was the #1 seed. Peter Marshall broke his leg in the 1st game. :()
Until Travis, that PM leg break was the worst on-ice moment I could remember for the Terriers.

He may be sitting out games, but Gaudet is a different matter than Craig Sanders. And this is not meant as a slam to Sanders.

Not necessarily. Parker said at the end of last season that the one thing he should have done more of was sit guys who weren't playing their hardest. He said there were players who played regularly last year that would be fighting for their jobs this year. I think the lines will be very fluid for the first month or so of the season. I'd like to see Hohmann and Rodrigues first before assuming they'll be in the starting line-up.
One thing to remember about #22 - he's a very hard worker and he was injured last season. He had hip surgery and looks like he'll be ready to start the season. If he continues to work hard and can be more effective than he was last year because he's healthier, don't assume he'll sit.

Didn't he say that following the conclusion of the prior year's season as well?

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

Press release about the incoming class (which includes the addition of last year's practice goalie) came out today. High praise for Hohmann, Privitera and Rodrigues.

I am going to wait to form my opinions until I see these guys play.

Didn't Parker predict 50 points out of Matt Nieto? That was a little heavy on the praise.

After all, a BU player has only scored 50 or more points twice since Chris Drury left (Colin Wilson and Nick Bonino). I think most BU fans were dissapointed in Nieto's performance.

I don't want to put myself in Parker's head, but I'm pretty sure he meant he could develop into a 50-point guy in the future, not that he could score 50 as a freshman. It's still a lofty prediction, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if he hits 50 -- probably not this year, but maybe next year if he's still here.

Parker on Nieto:"Matt is a big recruit for us, especially since he had no ties to Boston. He's a great skater who really generates offense and he'll be a big-time scorer. He'll be picked high in next year's NHL draft and we think he can be a 50-point guy for us."
