Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Anyway, is it really safe to say Bourque should have stayed another year knowing he probably never would have been able to after grades from year 1 came out? From a hockey standpoint sure but...

Ya, that's why I said he'd be the perfect example if college was for him. Clearly wasn't though...

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

I already have enough depressions brought on by remembering that game, and now you've added to the mix, "And don't forget, Joe Sacco should've been on that team!" Thanks a lot!

:p

Side note: You could have a fun parlor game imagining the potential final score of that game with all those big producers + Sacco. It could've been 10-9! 13-11!

Hah, when Ed Ronan gets two goals in the first period, you know you are in for a high-scoring affair!

Reasoner
Gionta
Farkas
Orpik
Scuderi
Hughes
Lephart

All from NY...

When BU selects JP's successor, I hope strong recruiting connections that will reap immediate benefits are one of the primary considerations.

Sounds like Quinn fits the bill. Should have taken over after the 2009 season ended in triumph.

Two other early departures that would have been on the '95 title team had they stayed all 4 years:

Adrian Aucion - left after his freshman year
John Lilley (I think) - left partway through his sophomore campaign.

You obviously can't fault Aucoin. Goven Lilley's size, he wasn't going to bcome a regular NHLer, but I think he had a couple cups of coffee with the Ducks (back when they were Mighty).

That class was unbelievable - huge in number and caliber:

McKersie
Herlofsky
Linna
Aucoin
Brennan
Thornton
Prendergast
Pomichter
Lilley

Was Jon Jenkins in that class too? I don't think so, but not sure.

Its the '97 team that bothered me. Could have had Grier and O'Sullivan I believe for the Finals....

The 1993-94 season was Jenkins's senior year. He played 3 seasons at BU. According to hockeydb, he scored 12 goals his senior year. He never played higher than the 3rd line. What depth BU had through the 90's.

Wasn't Lilley a head case?

Yeah, I mean the whole article just begs the question, who wouldn't go there if they could? (At least in terms of Eastern Schools). If I were a parent and my kid could choose between BU and BC for hockey right now, I wouldn't even hesitate to send him to BC, as much it pains me to say it. It's just reality.

Why just for hockey? Your kid gets injured, depending on his choice, he can have an Ivy League degree (BC) or a community college degree (BU).

Parker told Grier it was time to leave. He was regularly getting called for penalties on clean checks. "Grier, two minutes, bigness." Calgary wanted O'Sullivan to come out and they moved him back to defense. Don't recall if JP agreed.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Whenever you think BU can't sink any lower they find a new way, well done Freep, well done.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

I think he was in the "not really enjoying the academic workload" bucket, but he seemed to get his act together - i believe he did some coaching or admin work for USA Hockey at one point.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Now only if he can avoid the gambling addiction that affects so many a BC grad....

a sure sign you got your head handed to you in that exchange, resorting to the gambling card...............truly pathetic.

What did you expect? It was either that, "Not from Boston," or "Your priest touched you."
