Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

So Hokydad, am curious as to why Vecchione hasn't committed anywhere yet? He's currently tied for 77th in scoring in the USHL with a 9-18-27 (-2) line in 44 games. Not exactly great numbers for a 19 year old in that league.
He's waiting to turn 21 so he can go to Merrimack. :D

Claver, don't think UND owes BC a game. The second game at Conte in return for a previous trip to Grand Forks was I believe the home opener back in 2007. Muse between the pipes and fog all around.

Hoky hasn't mastered the English language, but if something does happen now, of course...he'll be able to say he was right (again). Never ends!

Maybe he needs, oh, I dont know, another year of juniors????

Uhmm, the whole reason he de-committed from UNH was because they wanted him to do another year of juniors, while he thought he was ready for D-1 in 2012. Hokydad also thought he was ready next year and that he'd have offers up the ying yang by now, so again, am just wondering why he hasn't committed? Was UNH perhaps right in their assessment of him needing another year of juniors?

Interesting tidbit from Dave Starman (Mr. Jam):

While on the ticket price subject, there are a few NCAA teams with slightly outrageous ticket prices. If you play in a nice arena with modern amenities you have a right to charge a bit more. There are a couple of teams that charge north of $30 for a ticket. That seems a little steep.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

true but it is his focus program going forward. deal is 100% for 20 days, pt for 10 then 100% for 20. Red Sox are now his BU plus 50%
Just look at where he was during the BU stretch/NCAA/Hockey East playoff run. In Florida..... Down there for many weeks
Someday, the person being referenced will not be pleased when personal/private/privileged info like this is blurted on the forum (like when Tremblay's new job was revealed before he had a chance to tell his Monarch players).

You know, people talk about what rivalry is the biggest in college hockey, but I don't think Minnesota/North Dakota or Michigan/Michigan State, etc. can say that in addition to the schools having such a long standing rivalry, that their coaches have been been actual rivals with each other since HIGH SCHOOL. I think that's pretty cool.

It's been almost a week since the last game and Chiasson signed. As no one else has left, are we pretty safe for now in terms of guys leaving early? Also was hoping to hear that Connelly and millan signed on to play... Any news?

Way too early in the offseason to say you don't have to worry about possible defections.

agreed- the last two years between 30-32 players left early'
This year in what seems accelerated leavings 18 have left with at least 4 from final four teams ready to leave

Many who left were to burn a year of their contract (krug with Bruins is a good example)
If any of the BU players leave it would be a 2 way with the NHL a distant possibility for next year

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

“If Jerry got a report that one of the kids was disrespectful to someone working in the lunch room or to the Zamboni driver, that would send him over the edge,’’ Cavanaugh says. “Or if one of our kids ever tried to play the card, ‘Hey, I’m a hockey player,’ that would send him off. You’re just one member of the Boston College community and we’re all equal.’’
Boom

That's the stuff right there.

Where Connolly and Millan are not sure fire NHL prospects and they are both seniors, I would expect that they would want to go ahead and finish their degree now, and just start professional hockey next season. Millan certainly has a shot top make it to the NHL one day, but especially at goalie, I don't think the Avalanche are eager to bring him in for a couple games in the AHL to see how he does. And I'm pretty sure Connolly was never drafted. I see him as a player in that area right in between ECHL and AHL. I would think he signs some sort of AHL contract over the summer, and starts in the ECHL.

Since Millan was taken in the "overage draft" or "supplementary draft" or whatever it is called, does that mean that the Avalanche don't lose his rights at the end of his senior year as they would if he was a regular draft pick?

Yeah, I mean the whole article just begs the question, who wouldn't go there if they could? (At least in terms of Eastern Schools). If I were a parent and my kid could choose between BU and BC for hockey right now, I wouldn't even hesitate to send him to BC, as much it pains me to say it. It's just reality.

I could be wrong on this, but I seem to remember kids leaving early ranging from March through August. So, to answer your question, no, BU is not safe in terms of guys leaving.
