Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Umm, what? How much were tickets with YA last year?

Whoops, tired and rushed at work. Last year was $338 with QF, but I'm fairly certain that was after my $25 deposit was taken out. So, it seems to be about a $20-25 reduction, if I'm remembering correctly.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

It looks like season ticket prices may have dropped a bit. With my YA discount, it's $340 including QF's, which is definitely more than I paid last year. Also, the young alumni discount now extends to anyone who has graduated within the past TEN years. And that's a $100 discount, so not insignificant. Certainly seems like there's a push to get more people in the seats, which is nice to see.

For perspective, I pay less than half of that for my BC season tickets

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Has the season ticket price announcement come with a list of home games?

It said 18 home games including non conference opponents RPI, Harvard and St Lawrence.... I dont' think Harvard was ever officially confirmend before (only suspected??)

Last year we had 13 home HE games and 14 away, so I assume this year it is 14 home and 13 away? So the home schedule is 14 Hockey East games, those three OOC and a canadian team exibition?

And if what Ihear is true: 1 game @ DU and 2 @ north dakota??

Are those in chairbacks or the upper bleachers? Our tickets with the discount come out to ~16 a game. You're saying you pay $8 a game?

They're upper deck seats, combined with free parking -best deal in the area.

The tickets say $10/game but they have some season ticket discount to make it about $8+ I believe

There is no doubt that BU has priced many people out of the arena.

The group I sit with has the conversation just about every year about at what price point would we decide to drop our tickets... and as much of a big fan of BU Hockey as I am, they are really not too far away from that breaking point for me.

I love going to Agganis, most enjoyable road trip in HE for me, so much so that I go to a non-BC game there every so often. I appreciate the superior seating, very good sightlines, ability to sell beer, etc.

That being said, my thoughts on the place would be much different if I had to shell out $52 (or whatever it is now) for a pair of tickets to every game.

You're right, and I certainly wouldn't be able to do that regularly if I didn't do the season ticket package, and I know many in my group had talked about dropping them after the young alumni discount ran out, though that's now been extended to ten years, so that's nice. They certainly are justified in charging more than BC for padded chairbacks with great sightlines in a newer and more spacious arena, but at $32-34 a game for a single game ticket (with TM fees), that's absurd, and getting too much past $15-18 a game for season ticket prices, especially when we're forced to buy all of the BS games that no one else attends is also absurd. There isn't much you "get" with being a season ticket holder anymore either, right of first refusal on postseason tickets and Beanpot tickets is worthless since any BP or postseason ticket can easily be had at the box office or somewhere online at or below face value. The only time it comes in handy is when BC away game tickets are sold out, but even then Agganis has dropped the ball on getting those tickets so many times, most of my group stopped dealing with them.
