The Freep just tweeted that the charges against Max Nicastro have been dropped. More info will be coming soon I assume

WCVB has a quick story updated about 11 mins ago.

Told you guys he was innocent just like John Sabo and OJ! Now we can just put an end to these culture problem talks and end this task force BU formed right?

Now I'd really like to read that police report. I'm no lawyer, but something tells me they wouldn't completely drop all charges against him unless the accusations made against him were thinner than Colby Cohen's defensive skill set.

Or they have no witness???

Good for Teflon Max. Nothing sticks to him!

The kid called this 6 months ago
:D

the fanboy defense league enjoyed going out of their way to debate and discredit a high school student and yet he's stil always right. Poor kid took a worse beating than those duct taped bu frat boys. Fanboy fail.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

I know you're trolling so I don't even know why I'm wasting my time responding, but the kid said Clendening was going to leave right after WJC and wouldn't be returning to BU for the Spring semester. He was wrong. Nobody disputed Clendening would have a choice to make at the end of the season.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

He said he was leaving in December. It's June. When we all assumed he would leave. No scoop there. Now, had he posted on Wednesday, then yeah. But he didn't. So I'm not giving any credit to a high school kid who gets his news from his father.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

I think Clendening is a leaving a year too soon, especially given his age. Another year in college would have helped him mature as a player and as a young adult, which would have better prepared him for life on the road (and likely the minors, for a year).
The Blackhawks originally wanted him to stay another year, as well.

Unless the family needed the money now, he should have stayed another year.
He made great progress, especially with his consistency, during his sophomore year. Another year, and he could have gone straight to being a NHL regular like Shattenkirk.

I wish him well, and hope that he has made a good decision for him, or if not, that he can overcome it.

The evidence probably came down to a case of "he said, she said" and the prosecutor knew it would be hard to get a conviction based on just that. It doesn't mean he's innocent or that this was some conspiracy.

The FreeP article mentions a number of witnesses interviewed, doesn't strike me as a he said/she said type of situation at all.

Oooh, I don't know about that. In ways they were similar in that they clearly were great offensive Dmen that had early struggles in their own end or at least needed plenty of work there and Shattenkirk (or "Shatty" for the fanboys) certainly did get better in that area. But I never got the sense that Clendenning ("Clenny", for the same aforementioned group) had that type of upside Shattenkirk had.

Guess we'll have to wait and see. AHL is superior competition, if his body is ready for pro hockey after 2 years in college, it's not a terrible move. I think he was going to spend time in the AHL anyway and this puts him against better competition at an earlier age to speed up his development.

Agreed... Also the only reason it is at all surprising (if at all) is that it didn't happen in April, so some of us assumed that with that it wasn't happening this year.

They were quoting Max's attorney who would say such a thing. But you're right, I don't really know what kind of evidence there was. I retract my post.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Girl made it up or simply not enough evidence to get a conviction? Guess we'll never know.

As for Clendening, nobody should be surprised by him leaving.

So is Nicastro allowed back on the team? I forget it he was kicked out of school. I would guess he'll be reinstated.
