Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Does Parker still do the colors? Haven't heard it in a couple of years. Which was which?

In practice, the forwards were split into red and white shirts by line (1st and 3rd lines were red, 2nd and 4th were white) and the defense were all dark blue. Injured/non-contact players were light blue.

Hmm interesting, as recently as 05-06 I know the forward lines went Red, White, Gold, Green. I wonder what year that changed, and why.

The Red Line was Amonte, McEachern, and Tkachuk. They wore red practice jersey's so they were "The Red Line." I don't attend practices, so don't know if it's still done.

The #'s (I know defkit has posted them before, but I never get tired of seeing them)

Amonte (31-37-68) - Best Pro #'s: 99-00 Chicago Blackhawks (43-41-84)
McEachern (34-48-82) - Best Pro #'s: 00-01 Ottawa Sens (32-40-72)
Tkachuk (17-23-40) - Best Pro #'s: 95-96 Winnipeg Jets (50-48-98)

And the quote from Jack. How did we not win a NC with these three guys? :(

The real question should be, how did Tkachuk only have 17 goals and 40 points?

he was a freshman who only played 6 games his senior year at Malden Catolic due to two different injuries. Plus, big guys sometimes take a little while to get things going at the college level. also, keith did not start the season on the top line, Darin McDonald did

Keith was good but not 50-Goal NHLer good. McEachern/Amonte was the dynamic duo. if only Joe Sacco had stayed...

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

- Combine this 2nd period with the 2nd period in the 1997 game and that's 10-0 I believe in NC game 2nd period meltdowns. BU had NO offensive pressure in that entire period. It was crazy. It was like NMU was on a 20 minute powerplay.

It's less relevant, since 9-1 is a blow out from start to finish, but I believe we also gave up 5 in the second period to LSSU.

Interesting, that is different. I love the blue practice jerseys, I want one. :(

I believe I still read about the line colors in 06-07, but not since then. Would be a good investigation sometime. :p

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

i put up a lot of articles from the 1976 final four in FL's 'greatest moments from the frozen four' thread. neat to see that as much as Jack has changed, he's stayed the same. ;)

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

I had remembered it as both posts as well. I was shocked when I saw it in slow-mo and...

A few other tidbits and I'll stop:

- Dave Tomlinson scored 30 that year. That was three guys with over 30 goals. But that 3rd/4th line was quite a drop.

BU Hockey: Past Talk Has More Answers Than Future Talk

Actually, the last three national championship games in which BU has competed and lost, their opponents ('91 -NMU, '94- LSSU, '97 - NoDak) scored 5 times in the 2nd Period.

Snipe Tomlinson is one of the most unheralded players in BU annals. One of my favorite WBA moments occurred in the 1991 NCAA QF's while BU was mauling Michigan. Tomlinson scored one of BU's 5 or 6 goals in the 2nd period. When Jim Prior announced the goal, he said "Boston University goal scored by #19, Sniper Tomlinson...".

Don't think I've ever seen one, are there pictures anywhere?

Couldn't find any still pictures but:

34 seconds is the best close up view of a jersey.

Ah, good to know the sucky second period has some historical precedence.

My fave Sniper moment was during the 1990 Beanpot. It was the only Beanpot in the last 20-plus years I missed in person due to some major surgery. I was watching at home and he scored that shorthanded goal against Harvard while BU was down two men. I was screaming as best I could with a wired jaw and my mother came running into the family room as she thought something had happened to me. I was trying to explain through a wired jaw what had happened. Ah, memories. :)

And Bomber, I'm loving the memories of the '91 game. Feel free to post about it whenever.

Ack. This mustache talk brings to mind that horrible night at the Garden a couple weeks ago.

The game was so bad from my perspective that I was reduced to noting fanbase sartorial statements:

Actually, the blue one I was referring to was a lighter shade of blue that Kieran wore last year. I even designed a t-shirt for it, but never went through with it and now cannot seem to find the image. They are cool.
