I like to procrastinate (if I missed someone either I didn't get a shot of him in March or I messed up)

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

And the thing that grew on Vinny Saponari's face and was then colored in with a marker

FYP

Honestly, I think that's true of most guys. Very few guys can pull it off without looking like idiots. Especially guys in their teens/twenties!

Yeah the playoff "beards" I've grown have been more than slightly embarrassing, this year was a significant improvement over last year though, one person said it looked good:p.

Impressive, considering you had far more time to let the thing grow in last year.

True story he shaved every morning but by game night had a full beard again.

Lets just say if he doesn't make it, he can always succeed Sasquatch. :D

Good luck to Kevin and Colby as they embark on the next stages of their hockey careers.

Potential 2010-2011 Lineup

F
J. Pereira C. Trivino A. Chiasson Bench:
C. Connolly W. Megan Vin. Saponari Vic. Saponari
S. Gill M. Nieto C. Coyle A. Glass
J. Courtnall R. Gaudet R. Santana K. Gilroy

D
D. Warsofsky M. Nicastro
S. Escobedo R. Ruikka Bench:
B. Rosen A. Clendening ???

G
K. Millan
G. Rollheiser
A. Kraus

Looking at this line-up, I'm more concerned with where their goals are coming from, than I am who is playing defense. They weren't exactly world-beaters this year and it seemed like a lot of their scoring came from Bonino, Cohen and Shattenkirk. If they don't have guys step up their offensive game soon, they're in trouble.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

The only time any sort of playoff facial hair is embarrassing is when you don't make the playoffs. :(

While I may not miss "Colby being Colby", he did seem to score goals in very appropriate moments, and that will be missed. Next year will be interesting, to say the least.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

I remember hearing Clendening isn't coming. Granted this guy has flip-flopped more more than Kerry so it might just be I missed the news.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Yikes. I threw everyone together, little regard for left vs. right shot at this point, anyone else can feel free to make edits. :D

Looks about right. Heisenberg lists Nieto as RW - can he play center as well? I would consider Gilroy / Glass on the fourth line wings over Courtnall / Santana. As for the defense, well, it's tough to get that wrong for now :o

Goaltending scares me. Hopefully a healthy Rollie will be enough to push Millan back into the "Calm Kieran" form that we saw back in 08-09. Last year's numbers were reminiscent of another recent #31...

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Oh yeah. Gotta make my captaincy predictions. Co-captains have been all the rage around here lately, and we're looking at a potentially weak year for leadership, so...

C - Warsofsky
C - Pereira (can you believe we now have one senior with a regular roster spot?)
A - Vin. Saponari

Yeah, he should be on the wing. That'll mix things up, I suppose Connolly can center, or Gaudet can center the 3rd line and Santana the 4th. Coyle centered in EJHL, but his game is better suited for the wing I think. That could bury him behind more experienced guys as he adjusts to the pace of college hockey, whereas the existing RWs and a guy like Nieto already are accustomed to the speed.

I would dish an 'A' to Connolly before Vinny personally. (Or dish anything to Vinny for that matter because he'll just whiff  )

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

I've been trying to tell the BU fans for years that McEachern's shot didn't hit both posts, now Bomber knows what I mean.

There were many remarkable goals in that game. One that few recall was Dave Tomlinson's goal that made it 6-4 NMU. Since NMU then went up 7-4, it's not thought of as one of the "comeback" goals the way Amonte's, McEachern's, and Sacco's goals are. While being pretty violently tripped, Sniper unleashes a shot that goes five-hole on Billy Pye. What I love about it is that as he starts his shot, Pye's pads are completely together. But as he completes his shot, Pye splits the pads ever so slightly, and the uck sneaks through.

I had remembered it as both posts as well. I was shocked when I saw it in slow-mo and...

A few other tidbits and I'll stop:

- Combine this 2nd period with the 2nd period in the 1997 game and that's 10-0 I believe in NC game 2nd period meltdowns. BU had NO offensive pressure in that entire period. It was crazy. It was like NMU was on a 20 minute powerplay.
- Tom Dion's turnover that led to the 4th or 5th goal (I forget) was one for the ages. We would have KILLED him on here if, you know, Al Gore had invented the internet yet.
- The Red Line was invisible until the 3rd. We would have KILLED them on here.... (You get the idea. ;))
- Dave Tomlinson scored 30 that year. That was three guys with over 30 goals. But that 3rd/4th line was quite a drop.
