Captains... 1 coaches pick, 1 voted by players, 1 negotiated

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

I don't know if anyone else is having this thought, but I can't stop thinking that Periera may be the second coming of Mark Mullen as a BU captain, i.e. a player who overachieved by all respects in the first three years of his BU career only to take a step back during his senior year perhaps due to leadership responsibilities. I don't think Mullen had a co-captain as Pereira will have with Connolly.

Who of Periera and Connolly is the rah rah captain and who is the captain who will keep everyone in line?

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Pereira.

Connolly.
Joey P....Parker's boy.....the brownoser and snitch that will let the coaches know the players whereabouts at all times.

Crisco: Player's boy....respect, straight forward tells it how it needs to be.

I think KBZ's insights are interesting. #6 is better when he is not counted on to be a leader and can just call himself bulldog, say silly things and not really be taken too seriously by the rest of the team while playing to the coaches. Now he has to play to and command respect from his teammates and that may be out of his reach.

I love his effort and heart but......

C=Parker's snitches
A=Snub
Result=Long season of the same ole same ole.

With all due respect, you're an idiot.

Perhaps.

To you I say, with all due respect, if you are as good a reporter as you aspire to be you should see some truth to my comments. If not, you need to do more work getting to know the team you cover.

Sorry, but when it takes just over 18 hours for #12 to go from a snitch to a respected, tells it how it needs to be captain, the hypocrisy stands out more than the truth does in your comments.

You are correct.

I erred in lumping #12 and #6 into the same barrel. I should have done a better job of distinguishing the very real differences between the two individuals leadership styles and perceptions.

That post was intended to send a different general message related more to the coach and his methodology and I unfairly mischaracterized #12. Thank you for calling me out on that mistake.

Edit: And to be clear, these are merely my opinions.

Do I know the team as well as some people? Probably not. Do I know them pretty **** well? Yes. Besides Shattenkirk, I'd say Pereira is the player I got to know best this season. I simply don't see how you can call him a snitch. There wasn't a snitch on this team, and that might've actually been one of its biggest problems. The coaches had no idea what this team was doing away from the rink.

Not really sure where you're getting this stuff about Joe. From the times I've talked to him, he's all about his teammates. Good friend, good guy, good teammate. He's quite a flirt, but other than that I wouldn't knock him.

And anyways, if Pereira didn't get an A or a C, no senior would. I couldn't see that happening.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Parker was not going to let the team vote this year. He changed his mind and let them before the banquet..... #12 was voted by the players.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

In a couple days are you going to post that Parker picked none of them? That's how your previous "scoops" went.

Didnt we already go over this ... and i was still right

(and yes if i find out different and need to correct myself so that i relay the correct information than i will)
