Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

CAN WE STOP WITH THE POSTGAME SENIOR NIGHT ALREADY?!?! ****ING STUPID!!

JOE DESERVES BETTER. HE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO STAND THERE AND LET EVERYONE WHO REMAINED SEE HIM COUNT THE PEOPLE IN THE STANDS.

THE GOD ****ED NU KIDS GOT MORE RECOGNITION AND LOUDER APPLAUSE FROM THE 'CROWD' (and they deserved as much). BUT FOR THEIR HOME GAME THE BU GUYS DESERVE AT LEAST THE SAME COURTESY.

MORE PEOPLE SAW THE JOE P HOSPITAL VIDEO AT THE FOH BANQUET IN 09 THAN SAW HIM WITH HIS PARENTS TONIGHT. ****ING EMBARRASSMENT.

OF ALL THE THINGS THE OLD MAN HAS SCREWED UP THIS YEAR, THIS SADLY IS THE WORST. I DIDN'T LIKE IT WHEN HE BROUGHT IT DOWN FROM VERMONT. I DISLIKE IT MORE NOW. I FEEL SO BAD THAT THESE TWO KIDS (AND THE TEAM MANAGERS TOO) HAD TO STAND THROUGH THIS. THEY SHOULD HAVE THE HONOR OF STANDING THERE BEFORE A FULL OR ALMOST FULL HOUSE PUMPED AND READY TO GO BEFORE THE GAME.

THIS HAD BEST NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I AM TRULY SORRY IT HAD TO HAPPEN TO THESE FINE YOUNG PEOPLE.

(finished, for now...:mad::mad::mad:)

A few years ago we were at Maine's senior night. They let the players address the crowd after the game. Few, if any, fans left. Of course, they're not a bunch of bandwagon fans. ;):D

ESPN has televised from the roof before. Also, let me know if I am wrong, I believe the last time the AE championship was at BU, Agganis was open and they still held it (or maybe would have held it?) at the Roof.

They have had the game at the Roof before. My understanding is that there is a new(er) AE rule about the arena having to have a minimum capacity to be eligible to host the AE championship game... and the roof is too small.

This way if we do host it, the game can be in an arena that feels empty, rather than a packed full house.

I was at the Maine senior night in 02 or 03 and it was a great atmosphere. I remember Tom Reiman saying in his speech that he wanted everyone to show up for the party or something and the whole student section started a "Beers on Tommy" chant that went on for a little bit, which I found to be both awesome and hilarious. If we had more good fans, it would work.

The funny thing is, if they did it before the game, I bet like half the fans still wouldn't make it into their seats on time.

Yep, HE was began more strictly enforcing that the games must start on time, even on senior night. And since the everyday pregame festivities (starting lineups, national anthems, etc) take 8 minutes, if we were to do a 10 minute ceremony it would start almost 20 minutes before the game. Did you see how many people were there at 6:40? This year it actually could have worked since there were only 2 players and 2 managers. My solution is to tell HE and the away team that the game starts at 7:30 and everyone else that it is 7 and then just start the cermony at 7:05.

FWIW Cornell also does their Senior Night festivities post game so that it doesn't interfere with the game's start time. At least in my time there most everyone stayed and it was one of the most enjoyable events at Lynah (for them, turning off the lights and spotlighitng the players isn't done before every game, so it creates the feeling of something special)

Also, I've been disappointed with the number of fans that hang around after each game for the players' salute. This is the 3rd full year of the players doing this and by this point fans...and certainly the students, should know enough to hang around for 5 mins after the game to be thanked by the players and vice versa. But that's just my opinion

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

I thought you guys had ZOMG the Best FANS Eva!!!!!!!! We wear JERSEYS!!!!!!!

15 yd penalty. taunting. :D

everyone needs to leave as soon as possible. a single in/out in the garage. i saw the club room was open after the game (by the time i left after the ceremony was done and passed the room, all the tables were all filled with people sitting and eating/drinking... nice:rolleyes:.

add to that, they lost, and there was a whistle with 2 seconds left, that resulted in a penalty... just the right pause to give peeps a chance to run out of their seats to get out.

and don't forget the fan base has had turnover... they are practically pimping out the expensive seats as the first round expired and people didn't renew because of the stupid high prices. plus the regular seats are so pricey now that people didn't renew - so those "ZOMG BEST EVAH FANS!!!" have left. 'senior night? what's that??'

and screw joe bertagna! we all indirectly pay his salary. he doesn't like it, **** him.

We keep hearing this as a reason, but why do other schools do Senior Nights, Banner Raisings, etc. before the game if this is true?

NU did the pregame ceremony early enough before the game on Friday that the game still started at 7.

Ever since our student fanbase started focusing more on singing than chanting, I've been becoming more and more disillusioned with them. Stop singing Rick *** Astley, watch the game and chant something derogatory about Jerry York.

That said, the one thing that would make me write off the student fans forever is wearing a SuperFraud style shirt, so yeah, people should still get a jersey.

To any of the BC fans that frequent this thread :) : Did BC have the banner raising as a pre-game or game time event?

Yes, other places just start it early enough so that the game can still start on time. I dont know what time they started the ceremony on friday at NU, but when they did start it, there were still plenty of fans not in their seats yet, still filing in, waiting in the concession lines etc etc.

Unfortunatley, I think this is a type of ceremony that regardless of when you do it, you are only going to get a partial crowd for.
