Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

I'm pretty fired up that we're the 4th rated program of all time. Someone needs to print a t-shirt.

if i was still on campus, i'd have done one with dr silber looking all confused - a NC ring on all his fingers and a "One for the TOE" banner! :p (but i have issues...)

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Already planning out my golf tournament schedule.... :D

I pretty much gave it up when the kid's schedules started to get crazy, between all the sports I rarely have a block of time consistently enough to stay remotely sharp...BUT, it looks like it is starting to get a little easier so I'm going to break out the clubs again this year...haven't played at all in 2 years, and only 1-2 times a year for the 3-4 prior to that. And I used to belong to a club and play 3-4 times a week, so it has been a real change. Heading south on spring beak with the family so I'm thinking there might be a round or two in my future now that the kids can hang at the pool or beach without driving mom crazy.

Have you played many rounds in Maine?

Jack, pirate and mookie... since you guys are talking golf, you absolutely have to get here some day. The people, resorts and climate are exceptional, the golf courses spectacular. Just got back. On par with the beautiful Plantation, Village and Bay courses of Maui, maybe better.

Cabo del Sol - Desert Course
Cabo del Sol - Ocean Course
Pamilla Mountain Course
Pamilla Ocean Course
Palmilla Arroyo Course

I played the Pamilla Courses in 1999, the Cabo del Sol Courses 2 weeks ago. Sometime in your life, get there.

No doubt this weekend is huge for BU (though at the end of the day, even playing great hockey may not get them to the promised land). This team has generally not done well in televised games this year (with the Beanpot 1st round game being a notable exception). This weekend is a chance to change that, given that both games are on the tube. Come to think iof it, the win at the Gutt was on TV too, so that was a good win.

On the Silber topic, and being cruel with the appendage jokes, IIRC, his book was titled "Straight Shooting." I believe I saw a joke title about the challenges of "Straight Swimming" with his condition.

I'm going to be in the Bahamas and also will miss BU winning HE finals (unless I can bribe a bartender at a place with a satellite dish). I've sat and watched the NCAA finals at the Hooters in San Juan (we lost to NMU) and sat at other bars during March Madness with every other person walking up and saying "hey, why is that TV showing some dumb hockey game?"

Oakmont is a hike from my abode but I'll keep in mind that you'll at least be in the region...soccer regionals are in Lancaster PA instead of West Virginia this year so we will be closer to home in late June and early July.

My 4 favorite Maine courses : Sugarloaf, Samoset early in the morning with the mist on the water and the lobster boats out, NE Harbor - funky little place that reminds you clubs don't have to be the Galleria, and Belgrade Lake.

Have played Kebo several times.

Let's hope we're hitting the courses before Jack P is this year.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

PA state am is at Lancaster CC this year, last week of July. Not sure if I can try to qualify since my home (MA) m/g is the same week [and since we won last year we get our entry fee covered and I certainly want to take advantage of that]. Will be in PA a lot. Indiana, PA invitational in June. Hope to get into the PA home course m/g in Johnstown in early July. And the state mid am is in williamsport, a great tillinghast cse in September.

Funny you mention Bahamas... I was considering flying from Miami on Saturday the 19th for the day to play the ocean club if my first choice falls through next month.

Just posted two quick hits on the blog- Warsofsky's out with a concussion, Megan's questionable with an ankle and Parker discusses Cronin's suspension.

Fed, did JP have any comment on the Shattenkirk trade?

Yeah, basically said it was usual NHL business. Said the Avs have plenty of offensive d-men and were looking for a defensive stalwart like Johnson, and that the Blues weren't going to give up Johnson without getting some valuable pieces like Shattenkirk and Stewart in return.

Nice pick up with O'Regan, the incoming class in 2013 looks to be strong already. maybe now people (cough, shaughnessy, cough) will stop bashing BU for not having enough "local guys"

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Despite sucking, unless I'm missing something we now cannot finish lower than fifth and NU cannot get home ice. The magic number, so to speak, for home ice is now one. One win, one maine loss, or combination of ties, and we've got it. Maine has now shut out their opponents in three straight games, albeit two against Lowell. Where's that supposedly bad Maine goaltending?

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

Amazingly, BU jumped from t16 to 15 in the PWR and would be the last team in right now.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

This team is so so frustrating to watch, it really does feel like last year again. Did anyone notice how poor Millan's body language was after the goals? Guy was furious. I don't want to blame the meltdown on him at all but he definitely did have problems with rebound control tonight. Whatever kind of funk the team is in right now has definitely become a bad habit, and unfortunately bad habits die hard. Don't see much success for this team in the next few days/weeks despite being in pretty good position HE standings wise.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 Part III - Is That So Much To Ask?

I feel a rant coming on and it ain't going to be pretty. Un****ing believeable.

How can this coaching staff let this team keep failing the same way over and over and over....

Well, at least I won't have to read four pages of power talk. Right? Right!!??

BU Hockey: Golfing by March 19th.

Sullivan has all of those shutouts and recently came back from injury (not that he was anything great before that). Anyway, the 3 v. 6 and 4 v. 5 QF series' should be pretty entertaining when you consider both Maine and NU are playing some good hockey right now.

Who do you like in the B's/Canucks game?

depends how you want to break the tie. if you use rpi, we're in, if you use the pair, CC is in. and btw, the guy commenting on your blog tonight using my name was not me. i would not abandon my whaler moniker. speaking of which, how do you change your handle on here? i've considered doing that lately.
