Speaking of benching captains, I'm going waaay back on this one: John Cullen, his senior year. Acutally, he wasn't a captain, was he? Just a top five all-time scorer.

It's good to see the boys survive the Beanpot hangover game. (Barely.)

I'm sure he wanted the team to have in the back of their minds, "he say Warsofsky?!? Maybe I should step up before I sit." as well. Not to dis umass, but outside of Lowell you can think that the boys you do send out should win- and while they did in fact do so, they had to overcome a horrible 2nd period to do so.
Sometimes things work outthe way you hope, sometimes they don't. We all know that. Part if making decisions and being the final guy responsible for them.
Whatever makes the team better in march & April.

That's not on Parker for sitting Warsofsky if they lost last night. If they can't beat UMass without him, they've got other problems. Anyone notice if Kilroy had a good game? I barely noticed him, not terrible for a checking line guy, but know Parker put him in for practicing hard over the last few weeks.

Anytime you sit one of your beat players it is on you. You of course hope you have the talent, but you make the decisions and you suffer the consequence. Nature of the job

Can anyone provide the background on Cullen sitting out? I can't recall it.

Other captains who've sat out? Mike Kelfer during the godawful 1988-89 season and Freddie Meyer in 2002-3 season (too many bad penalties).

Parker: “We wanted him to play a little bit harder. We talked to him about it. He’ll be back in the lineup Monday and I’m sure he’ll play the way we want him to play. When he’s playing up to his capability, he’s the best defenseman in this league, and we need him to be the best defenseman in this league.”

Thank you.

Although there's a dman on bc I think is better ;)

Anyway, I was thinking the benching was for what happened at the end of regulation against bc--letting samuelsson get the breakaway

I'm always afraid of him when he has the puck but from the games I've seen he hasn't been great defensively

It'll be a bigger deal when Parker cleans out his locker without telling him. :D

would he then have to text the fanboy blog both sides of the story then?? how would pirate spin that one.. i get dizzy just thinking about it.

I get dizzy thinking of you, you're so dreamy.

Wow, no talk of the golden boy Warso being a healthy scratch? Are you guys going soft?

Good point Johnny it certainly got may attention, not a good last 12 months for Jackie P. This is one more nail I hope!

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Apropos of nothing at BU, but I just noticed that Michigan Tech hasn't won a game since October 15th.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

with merrimack sweeping unh this weekend, i think we can throw any thoughts of 3rd place right out of the window. personally i think now we just have to hold onto 4th and hope maine holds off northeastern, considering i would rather not see rawlings in a 3 game series (as has been discussed). thoughts?

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Undefeated through their first five, winless through their last 25. 0-23-2 during that stretch. Ouch.

I don't mean to pile on, 'cause it's got to be brutal for players and their fans. And it's probably not over, since those Huskies travel out to Denver for two this coming weekend. They could be winless in 27, which would eclipse the Cavs.

Must be a great atmosphere at practice and in the locker rooom.

Not necessarily true at all, and don't discount the possibility of catching unh, with whom we have the tb. But really the only thing that matters is just taking care of our own business. If we can do that, we'll be just fine.

i agree about taking care of our own business, i just think it's interesting to look at how this all might play out (so i can look back in a month and see how wrong i was). and on the unh note, i have to say i see them probably losing twice to bc on the final weekend of the season

a sweep probably isnt the most likely scenario, but that series is why we may have an outside shot at catching them. plus, while the two are going in opposite directions right now, MC still has two at alfond, and up there, you never know what can happen.

Only slightly more apropos but most definitely on a more positive note, Western Michigan has been one of the biggest surprises of the season. Former BU recruit Greg Squires is 4th on the team in scoring.

Watching the replay of Friday night's game vs. UMass via CBS-CS. Dave "Jam-man" Starman just informed us that Sean Escobedo is an "offensively gifted player."

Actually to catch UNH, BU would need to run the table, and for UNH to leave five points on the table. Given their last weekend is with BC, that's not out of the realm of possibility, they'd just need to drop a point in one other game, against UVM or NU.

That would get BU 3rd ahead of UNH. If MC were to drop three or more points (UMA, ME and PC) BU would get 2nd. MC owns the tiebreakers against all three of the other top teams, so BU needs to tie UNH and/or beat MC in points. If MC drops only two points that puts all three teams in a three-way tie for 2nd place, but MC owns more tiebreakers. But that does put BU ahead of UNH.
