Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Two little details I noticed while watching the game on TV so far tonight. BU finally switched from old NikeBauer 4500 helmets to Bauer 4500 helmets. More interestingly, the paw stickers on the helmets are clearly smaller than they were even on Monday. An interesting midseason switch.

They went to the trouble of re-sticking the paws? Does that strike anyone else as odd?

Well, they are wearing new buckets so they would've had to put new paws on anyway. I'm surprised they went with smaller paws though. The stickers had been the same size for at least the last 10 years and i'd imagine even longer. A couple guys had paws up to the top part of their helmets, and I'd imagine they'll come closer to fitting on the back now.

Wow, no talk of the golden boy Warso being a healthy scratch? Are you guys going soft?

You just want us to talk about it so you can join in, so why don't you just start the conversation since you're going to probably comment on it more than anyone anyway.

Ah yes, the typical Scarlet post. What a freakin' baby you are. Silly me, I just figured that when an assitant captain/one of your best players is a healthy scratch, there might be some talk about it. Guess I was wrong.

Notes: Junior assistant captain David Warsofsky was a healthy scratch on Friday night. It was the first time that Parker has benched a captain since he benched former Terrier Brian McGuirk in 2007-08. Parker said Warsofsky will be back in the lineup for Monday’s matchup against Harvard . .

FL or hammer asked parker... parker said he'd be back. if there was another comment, i'd expect to have read about it there.

what's to discuss? team won, played a poor 2nd period. but won. moving on......

Why do you even give a **** whether or not there's talk here amongst us? Seriously, I'd really like to know why. If his being a healthy scratch is such a concern of yours, then start the conversation, not make a snide comment about why there is none here.

It was discussed on the Score Update thread. You were a part of it??

Sorry its not the big scandal you want it to be.

Ha, I understand he was benched. I was just curious if Parker gave any specific reasoning for it, what fans thought of it, etc. Usually something like this generates at least some discussion. That's all.

That was not a discussion. It was merely mentioned that he was a healthy scratch--nothing beyond that. My god you guys are getting touchy and soft.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

I agree completely. I've been running scenarios on that same site for Merrimack, and most often it's UNH and BC 1st and 2nd, BU or MC in 3rd or 4th, with Maine and NU 5th and 6th... and I keep wondering why Merrimack should even try to push for 3rd place when the booby prize for that is a series against Northeastern. I'd much rather play Maine in the first round also, and I think that I'd rather play anybody else other than BC in the semifinals. Assuming UNH does get the regular season crown, there's really not much to be said for trying to finish 3rd. You guys can have it! :)
I wonder how those scenarios look after last night?

Maybe UNH will rebound against MC tonight, though that's really hard in the Warriors' building. That's the Cat's game-in-hand and if they lose, they'll be tied with BC -- and still have two games to play against the Eagles. So, UNH hasn't wrapped up the RC crown yet, and could even drop to 3rd.

And Maine is no shoe-in for 5th, the way that they're going. The do have MC at home for a pair, but given the Terriers performance up there two weeks ago and last night's humbling by Vermont, the Black Bears seem to be sinking fast.

In all of this, the one thing that looks pretty likely is BU at home in the fourth slot, almost certainly no worse, and probably not better, since MC has the tie-breaker. More important than the playoff match-up, though, is picking up wins for the pairwise.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

No, that would suck because I'd then be on the hook to purchase three games!!!!!! :(

If you were just sincerely curious about it that's fine. I think what gets people like Scarlet and myself a little defensive is that you only seem "curious" about things that could be seen as negative at BU. I don't think you would be so quick to be wanting to discuss it if it had been something positive, that's all. If I'm wrong, my bad.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Parker: “We wanted him to play a little bit harder. We talked to him about it. He’ll be back in the lineup Monday and I’m sure he’ll play the way we want him to play. When he’s playing up to his capability, he’s the best defenseman in this league, and we need him to be the best defenseman in this league.”

So Fed, how does this work? Did JP make the decision on Thursday, or earlier in the week? Was it something he was considering and waited to gauge Warsofsky's practice level during the week?

I don't know when he made the decision, but I'm fairly certain he told Warsofsky on Thursday. Warsofsky met with Parker in his office right after I met with him, so I'm willing to bet that's what it was about. Parker hasn't really been completely unhappy with Warsofsky's play -- he told us a couple weeks ago he thought he was playing pretty well despite not putting up points -- so I think it was mostly to try and send the message that quote ends with. "I know you can play better than this, and we need you to play better." I think it was that more than, "You've been playing terrible, so I'm benching you." I don't think anyone besides some of the trolls on our blog thinks Warsofsky has been terrible; he just hasn't been as good as he can be.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

I'm sure he wanted the team to have in the back of their minds, "he say Warsofsky?!? Maybe I should step up before I sit." as well. Not to dis umass, but outside of Lowell you can think that the boys you do send out should win- and while they did in fact do so, they had to overcome a horrible 2nd period to do so.
Sometimes things work outthe way you hope, sometimes they don't. We all know that. Part if making decisions and being the final guy responsible for them.
Whatever makes the team better in march & April.
