Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Let's see BCs for the past three years?

BC players that have made their NHL debut within the last three years? Or did they also have to play at BC within the last three years?

Whatever.... Either way it ain't putting BU to shame for "kids coming through"

Has BC been the class of ALL college hockey for the past decade, yup. Does it hurt BU that we are in the same conf? Yup. But BU has won more national titles than 54 other teams in the past 5 years. And these things come and go. You should all remember how "1949" sounded. And Jerry ain't gonna live forever (er, who knows though...he is the devil!!!!! :D.).

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Swami, BU is always among the bottom among Hockey East teams when it comes to the All-Academic Team each year. BU also seems to tolerate academic failures as well (Chris Bourque and Dan Lacouture quickly come to mind).

BC's usually near the bottom, too. The All-Academic Team is based on GPA, so there are always more guys from the state schools than the private schools. APR (Academic Progress Rate) is probably a better measurement, and I believe BU got a perfect score in that when it came out last year. Ryan Ruikka has had a GPA of 3.88 and 3.89 the last two years, and I've been told he finished last semester with a 4.0.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Can I interject some common sense here....

A kid kicked off the etam went on record complaining about the coach. Another player on the etam anonymously replied that the kid (voted as the worst teammate) said he was making stuff up.

They both would have a motive and they are both likely embellishing here. What is clear is that he wasn't the best "character" guy on the team and missed some etam events. What is also clear is Jackie is not handling things in a professional manner.

It also seems likely that Parker is exhibiting some rather bizarre behavior even if we assume that Glass is only telling half the truth.

Finally, where are the texts voice mails? Would seem that dear old dad here would have saved the voice mail?

Regardless, some kids can't abide the rules and that's likely what this was, on the other hand Parker is probably losing his sh1t too.

Everyone I've quoted, I approached.

Thanks for the answer on this.

That does make me inclined to believe the Glass story all that much more to be honest. They didn't look to start a Parker smear campaign and run to the biggest outlets possible like say... the Globe, Herald, local papers, USCHO, etc (Cody Ferriero rings a bell).

Well, it is what it is...

I was just trying to think of the BC list...

Schneider
Gerbe
Ferriero
Smith

I think that's it

This was a very reasonable post and I agree with most of it.

But... why would the dad save something he never received? Seems like he made outgoing calls to Parker and got nothing back and I don't think you can save voicemails you leave for other people (I don't now anyone that does even if they can do that). Glass then saw Parker and he said to bring his dad and that was that. Other than that, the kid sent 1 email to Parker to which he claims he never got a response to. I would imagine he still has that saved in his outbox.

I'm not sure what motive Glass has. He was late and admits it and it seems like Parker is kicking him off for that so it's not like he's clearing his name much and why does he have to clear his name? As the earlier post indicates, he did not come forward to the DFP but rather responded to FL's inquiry. So... surely Parker has a motive to defend himself as he has a program's reputation on the line as well as his own. The kid texting FL taking shots at Glass has a motive to keep his coach happy, he has no reason to worry about speaking negatively about Glass anymore now that they are not teammates.

Trying to look at it from all angles here but that's what I see right now.

BU's low number of Hockey East All-Academics is a fact. Question, out of that list of BUers you mention, how many actually graduated? Half of them? Don't sit here and pretend BU hockey is always among the top teams when it comes to academics, because you'd be flat out wrong.

ps- Are you really asking about recent BC players in the NHL? Seriously?

One of the players on Mookie's list can't be an all academic list. I believe he failed a course before he left. I won't mention his name to respect his privacy.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

FWIW, I have a friend who is very peripherally connected to the team who made a comment to me profusely stating that Glass was lying through his teeth in some of his comments, namely with respect to the studying at the library story. This was via text, so I got very incomplete details, but this person had previously told me the cleaning out the locker part of the story, so I'm tending to believe that some of the things Glass said may have been exaggerated, untrue, and/or the result of a series of miscommunications.

really, and you printed a one-sided smear?
How long till Jackie finds someone else to fill your spot in the press box at games?

any anonymous players' words are not worth the pixels you display them with.

And now this thread is complete. Quoted, before you delete it.

I would like to trade you out of this thread for hokydad. That seems like a nice even swap!

Yay, more anonymity. Please coordinate a meeting between this anonymous source (Mrs. Parker?) and a BU reporter. I think it could be up on the web site today :D:p

The identity of my friend isn't relevant. I said it was someone very peripherally associated with the team, so it's clear that the person is not someone with close connections, and may have heard the story secondhand, etc, making the story entirely hearsay, mostly a rumor, and not at all confirmed to be factual. So if I said this person is Bob Smith, the guy who makes coffee for the men's basketball coach, or Ollie Williams, who works on the Agganis conversion crew and overheard players talking after a game in a tunnel one night, that's not relevant. Also, I didn't ask my friend if I could post this information, so that's another reason why I didn't list a name or position.
