Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

There's two sides to every story, so I'm not ready to hang Parker for this one. However, the lack of discipline and/or communication on this team is troubling. In isolation things happen, but if people keep getting run off the team by the coach I can't see that not having a bad effect either in the locker room or for recruitment.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

That's a direct quote from the story. Of course, I assume you think Glass is lying. Regardless of age, how is this a professional way to deal with ANYONE?! I guarantee if you said that to a co-worker that person may also find it less than professional. I do find it funny you Fanboys defend Parker to the absolute death. You won't say it, but deep down, you know the cheese has fallen off the guy's cracker and it makes your program look foolish. I guarantee you parents, players and scouts take notice of things like this during recruiting visits.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but we need to be careful about making judgements about Parkers' lack of cheese without the full information.Could it be that Parker may have had a larger and more embarrassing issue with Glass that he chooses not to bring up in order not embarass the kid with his parents or the media? When a kid is "run-off" from any program, there is usually a very good reason for it, and we may not know the full story here. Parker is an iconic coach in college hockey history. That doesn't mean he's perfect, but we all know his fuse is shorter than others, and players who play for him know this going in...

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

To my knowledge, the only person indicating he made the "what the F..." comment was Glass. So, that would be solely reported by him.

Right. At the same time, there's nothing out there from the other side refuting it. Not saying there should/shouldn't be...there just isn't.

I typed out a long response to this but really, it makes no sense to try to convince a you or any BC poster that this isn't the crime of the century they think/hope it is. I've laid out my thoughts, I'm confident they are based on enough experience to be reasonable and defensible. Anything more than this would constitute free training in HR conflict resolution.

It's not the crime of the century and you're certainly entitled to your opinion. I think the disconnect is you seem to have no problems with anything Parker did (yes, i know, according to Glass). I do. Not a big deal, we'll agree to disagree.

Well said. He's always been a tough love guy, though not to the degree he was early in his coaching career. One thing that's undeniable--the vast majority of his players past and present love him and are extremely loyal to him. I'll always recall Ed Ronan's first comment when he scored an OT goal in playoff game for Buffalo. Asked his reaction to scoring the game-winner, he blurted out, "I can't wait to call Coach Parker." This was a few years after Ronan had been part of a Stanley Cup Winner.

Re Glass: I have little doubt that we don't know all the facts--though I have no personal knowledge of the situation. There were several issues in Vinny Saponari's dismissal left out of the public statements, I'm sure to Vinny's relief.

I have no problem believing Glass' statement was 100% accurate. We all know that Jackie never cared much about academics and blamed his own inability to coach on players like Bartlett, Walsh, Bennett, the Saponaris, and now Glass. No wonder he loses all the recruiting battles over the top New England kids.

And Matt Gilroy still can't play defense.

Sorry, I don't see how it is clear Parker is not handling things in a professional manner. What acts would you put in that category that are not solely reported by Glass?

How about cleaning out his locker over break? That was backed up by the other "player" was it not? That's unprofessional don't you think?

I don't know how often a traveling college hockey coach checks his voicemail.

I don't know either but it's not like it's hard. Maybe someone should show Parker how. Here Jack, type in your four digit password and taadaa ...... voicemail.

I didn't say he couldnt do it but what real important voicemail messages do you think Jack Parker gets? You really think a guy in his position is worried about what voicemails he gets while on the road? As many of you use against him, he isn't a teenager, I suspect he got along for in his job for plenty of time without voicemail, I doubt he gets up and checks it in case an irate parent called. Of course, I've only mentioned the privacy aspect of this 4-5 times...so the point is moot.

I still don't see how checking a voicemail and responding to a concerned parent of one of your players is all that difficult.

What about privacy?

Two thumbs up !! 1 thumb for cheese falling off the cracker that's the funniest thing I've heard in a while.

You make a good point also with the players, parents, scouts taking notice. And it ain't like this is an isolated incident. It has become a yearly ritual. The players on the etam must be wondering whose next...

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

It won't be Warsofsky or Trevino. Parker needed them for this year's "team" otherwise he would have sen tthem packing after last year.

I think it is his fukking job to care when a player or parent of a player send him a voicemail whether he is on the road or sitting in his tub playing with his rubber ducky.

And I didn't see where you argued the locker clearing thing so I am assuming you acknowledge that as bizarro behavior?
