Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

Not sure if this was discussed in this thread's previous offseason chapter, but I heard from an extremely credible inside source that CBS College Sports will be broadcasting both games of the BU/BC doubleheader this December.

Always my favorite weekend of the year - such great memories.

Carry on.

that is awesome, because that 815p start time up the street was keeping me at home!

FWIW: In TSN's annual survey of top 2011 draft prospects by 10 NHL scouts, Adam Clendening was ranked #9. Apparently, none of those scouts read Hokydad's meanderings. ;) Nieto didn't make the top 10 but did receive some votes.

the author tweeted that earlier today. was a nice read while out for lunch.

Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

never once said he was not a very good player. is and always has been.

No, you didn’t, but you’ve been repeatedly negative about him. You were wrong about him not coming to BU. And the TSN survey reveals you were wrong about needing a year in the OHL to bolster his draft status. The World U18s and Jr. National camp took care of that. We’ll see how he does this season with the opportunity he’ll receive at BU.

Besides the criticism of Clendening’s father, I suspect much of the negativity is his playing for the NTDP, which, I recall, you called a “farce” and a “waste of money.” It was no surprise that you posted about Coyle and Hayes being “drafted ahead of any NTDP forwards,” conveniently forgetting that the five best U18 forwards—Saad, Nieto, Shore, Czarnik and Grimaldi—are all 2011 draft eligible, not 2010.

Nice photo. Looks like Gryba still has his MSH-BU Hockey bracelet on his right wrist.

This isn't creepy or anything. This internet war with hokydad is a good one, though. It's like the bumfights videos that came out on the internet a long time again before the kids that produced them got tossed in jail....

"I stalk hockey players better than you do!"
"No, I do... wanna fight about it!?"

Pedofights! With Chris Hansen as a guest ref. This has potential.

What exactly is your point here? Are you criticizing a charity? Or are you criticizing Rogie for caring about that charity and being in touch with what's going on? Or maybe you're criticizing Gryba for still caring about that charity even after he graduated?

ntdp is a farce and a waste of money

i never said he wouldnt come to bu, wrong again

coyle and hayes were drafted ahead of any f's from ntdp. who cares about next year. you are also wrong about top 5 being those 5.

long season, ntdp is a farce and they are not the top 5.
how conveniant for you to name the top 5 as the 5 not draft eligible. what about the other 10+

Yea, I hate charity. Are you drunk?

edit - Nevermind I just realized who I was responding to. No wonder you don't get it.

ntdp is a farce

Agreed. But you have to understand what is at work here. Parker loves the NTDP. Rogie's buddy biggd (I liked that guy by his kid's senior year, FWIW) also loves the NTDP and sent his kid there. So naturally Rogie loves the NTDP and is here defending the honor of biggd in his absence.

Yeah, I'm drunk at 10 am. That's how I get ready for class.

The only thing I don't get is why you consider it creepy to notice that he's still wearing the MSH-BU bracelet. I'm sure a few people noticed it, and Rogie was simply pointing out that it's nice to see.

The bracelet was the 2nd thing I noticed after the dent in the other guys cheek.

Parker does not love the rpogram. Think Lashoff and others. Loves to grab some of the kids who played there maybe, but not the program.

time to shut it down and use money elsewhere.

How typical—putting words in another’s mouth in order to deflection attention from the earlier dumb-azz post. A few points:

1. I posted nothing that defended the NTDP (or biggd, for that matter). In fact, I just connected hokydad’s negativity toward Clendening—and some other kids, for that matter—to his admitted dislike of the NTDP program. Pointing out the five NTDP forwards from last year’s U18s who are highly-rated 2011 draft eligible simply demonstrated the disingenuity of one of hokydad’s assertions.

2. I neither love nor disapprove of the NTDP and have read many good arguments pro and con. The program certainly has helped develop many very good players. Would the same development have occurred in the USHL or BCHL? Who knows? The program isn’t for everyone. Colby Cohen left and played USHL with no impact on his path to BU. Alexx Privitera had a pretty good season for the U17s last year, but left and is playing for Muskegon—not a discipline matter, just not the right fit for him.

3. Yes, biggd is a good friend and a knowledgeable one who has always been refreshingly candid with me about his own son and BU. Nobody on this thread cares whether you grew to like him.

4. If anyone believes you knew the bracelet reference was for a charity, they should call quickly, just one bridge left to sell.

5. The comment about stalking players better is yet more drek. And you know it. Following prospects via the Internet is what dozens of people on this board do. Just look at all the recruiting threads there are. Repetition of BS doesn’t equal fact.

6. "Are you drunk?" And how often do you plan to use that one?

Thanks for living up to expectations.

Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

so it's been a REALLY long time since i've posted here, but...

Are there any sort of plans for a good chunk of people trying to head out to St. Louis for the Ice Breaker?

I'd also like to say that this message is directed more towards my age bracket.

Agganis probably knows more about this than I do, but I know at least a few students are flying out. Four of us Freepers (3 writers and a photog) are flying out, too. I haven't heard of anyone driving out.

I'll be there - I just booked my room. What are the odds that the Cards will be in the playoffs? My room has a ballpark view!

Currently, 4.2%.

Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

How typical—putting words in another’s mouth in order to deflection attention from the earlier dumb-azz post.

Erroneous. But if that's what you want to believe, more power to you.

Let's tell the truth. He might have said something disparaging about one of your recruits or players. At which point, you got your panties in a bunch. Talk about typical. I've NEVER seen that before. Although I will say it is definitely good for a laugh or two so I do appreciate the Pavlovian response. Thanks for (sadly) living up to expectations.

It certainly has its pros and cons. That we agree on. IMO the politics within the program have made it a farce, however, to fulfill its main duty at times. And that is sad. Also look at how well Jimmy Hayes did when he left the program as I believe an overaged player there and did well in the USHL playoffs and picked up right from there at BC as a freshman.

3. Yes, biggd is a good friend and a knowledgeable one who has always been refreshingly candid with me about his own son and BU. Nobody on this thread cares whether you grew to like him.

Sure. But no one on this thread cares that he was "refreshingly candid" with you either. So ain't we both content. I just thought in case he dropped by and read this since the topic is of interest to him he might appreciate the comment (and maybe he wouldn't... it also helps to eliminate any personal bias as a reason for my opinion of the NTDP but I'm sure you knew that).

4. If anyone believes you knew the bracelet reference was for a charity, they should call quickly, just one bridge left to sell.

That's the point, chief. I didn't know it had anything to do with a charity and that was irrelevant from the start. Knowing that, it certainly isolates the creepiness of the situation

5. The comment about stalking players better is yet more drek. And you know it. Following prospects via the Internet is what dozens of people on this board do. Just look at all the recruiting threads there are.

True, but dozens of people also end up in a kitchen getting ambushed by Chris Hansen and Dateline NBC cameras when he says, "Where you going? I just want to talk to you for a few minutes"... I'm just saying...

6. "Are you drunk?" And how often do you plan to use that one?

In all fairness, once I realized to whom I was responding it was apparent that he didn't need alcohol to not understand the creepiness of the situation and I edited the post without deleting the initial comment. He's like a little Rogie in training with a little blog and everything! If it wasn't so darn weird I'd say it was kind of cute. And to think I didn't even reference Jack Parker when talking about being drunk. Just think how much foam would have appeared at your mouth if that happened!!!

i don't think the issue is whether or not gryba is wearing his fake livestrong bracelet, in so much as it is why is he not wearing the friendship bracelet rogie made for him. you just cant trust those canadians, alex. i'm sorry he hurt you.
